The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Downer pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Balls shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Downer is trying to defend but Balls finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Downer throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Balls's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Downer dives in looking to finish as Balls flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Downer's strikes! Downer is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Balls's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Balls was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
