Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Bader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mz Aszad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thomas Bader!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mz Aszad!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bader rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Aszad moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Bader changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Aszad looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Bader decides to stand up, so the ref orders Aszad to his feet.
Aszad buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Aszad drives through and clinches with Bader against the cage.
Bader tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Aszad avoids it.
Bader wants a takedown.

Bader jumps guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Aszad trying to control but Bader is working from the bottom.
Bader trying to keep a closed guard but Aszad is proving a slippery customer.
Bader might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bader lands some strikes from the bottom.
Bader seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Bader is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Aszad is looking to work some ground and pound but Bader has wrist control.
Aszad missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Aszad wants to control from the top but Bader keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aszad postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bader scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Bader changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aszad tries to avoid it but Bader manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aszad to the ground. Aszad escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nice uppercut lands for Aszad. That snapped Bader's head back.

Aszad lands a left and a right that send Bader crashing to the mat, dazed. Aszad thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Thomas Bader has been cut.
Bader is breathing heavily.
Bader is looking to clinch but Aszad is avoiding it.

Aszad closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bader did well to prevent Aszad getting side control.
Aszad wants to get back to his feet.
Aszad looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Aszad is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Bader wants to control but Aszad is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Aszad wants to stand up but Bader has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Bader slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bader holds on and takes a little breather.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bader pushes Aszad off and scrambles back to his feet.

Bader shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Aszad's guard.
Bader slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bader wants to control from the top but Aszad keeps moving.

Aszad throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bader escapes and throws Aszad's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Aszad tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mz Aszad dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Thomas Bader's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bader misses with a leg kick
and Aszad makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Bader shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Aszad napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Bader wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aszad keeps working.
Aszad can't do much from the bottom here.
Aszad takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Aszad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bader. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bader controlling from side mount.
Aszad is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Bader has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Aszad is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Bader yanks on the arm and Aszad is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Bader.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Thomas Bader!
