Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jim Earts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Christian Moore! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moore looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Earts is fending him off so far but Moore persists. Nope, Earts circles away and we're back to standing. Moore gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Earts to score an easy takedown into full guard. Moore is trying to hold Earts in close to prevent damage but Earts has managed to pass into half guard.
Moore wants to get back to full guard but Earts has passed into side control. Earts controlling from the full mount. Moore is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Earts has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moore can't escape the position.
Earts landing strikes from the mount and Moore is in trouble! Earts looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Moore is wriggling around trying to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Moore can do anything to dispel that myth. Earts controlling his opponent.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Jim Earts just wasn't active enough. Moore with a poor takedown and Earts counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Earts. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Moore looks gassed! Earts controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Earts passes into half guard. Moore trying to control from the bottom.
Earts is taking a breather. Moore says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Earts passes to side control. Earts controlling the position from side mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Check out the look on Earts's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Moore tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Earts wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Earts takes a little break here. Moore wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Moore tries to get back to half guard but can't. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jim Earts dominated that round. That's time! Earts's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Earts rushes Moore and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Moore goes for a takedown attempt but Earts pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Earts drives through and clinches with Moore against the cage.
Earts has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Moore is trying to keep an underhook but Earts manages to get the takedown into half guard. Nice strikes from Earts there. Moore is trying to maintain the position but Earts is very close to passing his half guard. Earts working the head and body with strikes. Moore is trying to get back to full guard. Moore is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Earts stalling. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Earts uses his free foot to push down on Moore's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Moore.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Earts controlling the pace for now. Moore is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Earts tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Earts is landing with some decent strikes but Moore is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Earts takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Earts cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Moore tries to lock up and control but Earts gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Moore is trying desperately to improve position. Earts looking to finish Moore with some ground and pound. This is bad for Moore! Earts controlling from mount. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Earts cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Earts scores a takedown into full mount! Earts looking to control and managing it successfully. Moore can't escape the position.
Moore takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moore tries to hold on but Earts postures up. Earts content just to control the position here. Jim Earts overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Earts landing strikes, looking to finish! Earts sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Earts. Earts takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Moore tries to reverse the position but Earts maintains control. Earts controlling his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jim Earts wasn't doing enough on the ground. Earts drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Earts sitting in guard here, content to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Earts connects with a couple of short punches. Jim Earts is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Earts sitting in guard, not really doing much. Earts seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Moore for as long as he can get away with.
And that's the end of the fight! Jim Earts showed his dominance in that final round. Well Earts has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
