Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between jonathan joester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and cain velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). jonathan joester has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, jonathan joester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, cain velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
joester pivots, looking for a leg kick but velasquez is out of range and joester settles back down.
velasquez dodges the punch combination from joester.
velasquez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says joester as he avoids it easily.
joester jabbing away but nothing is landing.
joester swinging wildly here.
joester lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
velasquez moves away from the strike by joester.
velasquez lands a body shot.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! joester crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from velasquez - the referee stops the clock and joester gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says velasquez. joester manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Some bone on bone action there as velasquez checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
velasquez circles away from the clinch attempt.
joester will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

velasquez moves into range and clinches up with joester.
velasquez has joester pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. joester manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
velasquez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. joester smiles and moves away.
jonathan joester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of cain velasquez.
joester lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but velasquez circles away quickly and effectively.
joester takes a head kick and keeps coming.
joester misses with a wild combination.

velasquez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but joester avoids it really well and circles away.

and velasquez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
joester throws a combination that misses
and velasquez counters with a good, hard body kick but joester shrugs it off.
jonathan joester seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
joester is breathing heavily.

and velasquez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in joester's guard now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
velasquez advances position into side control!
The strikes coming from velasquez are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
velasquez tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
velasquez is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down joester's shoulder. That is not cool.

velasquez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. joester knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

velasquez stands up and beckons joester to his feet.

velasquez closes the distance and clinches.
velasquez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. joester is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
velasquez landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
A short body shot lands from velasquez as the two fighters clinch.

velasquez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

velasquez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
velasquez misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
velasquez postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

velasquez stands up and we're back to a striking position.
joester takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
velasquez closes the distance and clinches up with joester, looking for a takedown. velasquez pushes joester against the cage but joester circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
velasquez tries to clinch up but joester circles away and keeps his distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

velasquez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
velasquez winds up and cracks joester with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

velasquez tries to pull guard but joester won't allow it.
velasquez pushes joester back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.


It looks like jonathan joester has been cut.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

velasquez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. velasquez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
velasquez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for joester!
The referee warns joester that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

velasquez has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of joester's face.

velasquez working for a guillotine from mount but joester is in no mood to give up.
joester on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if joester tries to get out of the position.
velasquez lands a nice shot to the head.
velasquez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as joester is looking to escape.
velasquez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
velasquez punching from mount but joester doing a good job of avoiding damage.

velasquez has hold of joester's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and joester manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

joester knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for velasquez on the ground.

joester is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
velasquez looking to land elbow strikes but joester uses the position to regain half guard.
velasquez is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
velasquez wants to control the pace but joester is squirming around nicely.
velasquez lands a big shot there that rocks joester but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

velasquez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. joester looks a forlorn figure.

velasquez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

and velasquez counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. joester is lucky that one didn't land flush.

velasquez forces joester back against the cage and clinches.
velasquez tries for a takedown but joester manages to get underhooks.
velasquez tries to land a knee to the head but joester blocks with his arms.

velasquez lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

velasquez is looking to stand up but joester isn't so interested in that idea.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now velasquez is on top in guard.
velasquez passes joester's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

velasquez decides to stand up.

velasquez closes the distance and pushes joester back into the cage.

velasquez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. joester just stands there and leans against the cage.
velasquez is working for takedown but joester is calmly controlling the position for now.
jonathan joester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of cain velasquez.
velasquez goes for a takedown attempt but joester pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
joester avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and velasquez counters by moving into the clinch.
velasquez lands a nice elbow.

velasquez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics joester uses from the top position.
velasquez is trying to control the position but joester postures up.
velasquez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
velasquez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
jonathan joester has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

velasquez controls joester momentarily but joester frees himself.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now velasquez is on top in guard.

cain velasquez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well velasquez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
