Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tyler Mayfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, King Khan!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Lou da Vinci and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
A combination from Khan does no damage.
Mayfield takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Khan moves into the clinch successfully.
Mayfield tries to stall but Khan uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Khan trying to land knees to the body.
Khan gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Mayfield keeps control of Khan as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Khan with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Khan trying to stall but Mayfield improves his position.
Mayfield is pressed up against the cage. Khan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mayfield down to the mat. Mayfield avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mayfield throws a right hand that Khan ducks under and follows up with a left that Khan also avoids with ease.
Khan throws a head kick but Mayfield moves out of range.

and Mayfield counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Khan tries to land a knee to the head but Mayfield blocks with his arms.

Khan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Khan with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Mayfield unloads a knee to the mid-section. Khan lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Mayfield is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Mayfield crunches a lovely knee into Khan's ribcage.

Khan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Mayfield lands a lovely overhand right.
Mayfield gets caught flat footed, as Khan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Khan perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Despite being in the dominant position, King Khan just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Khan throws a nice looking combination but Mayfield bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mayfield lands a jab to the nose.
Mayfield clinches but Khan breaks the clinch
and Khan moves into the clinch.
Mayfield breaks the clinch.
Khan avoids a punch combination nicely.
A big head kick from Mayfield and Khan is sent sprawling to the canvas!
Khan is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Khan has Mayfield pulled in close to control his posture.
Khan is still in real trouble! Can Mayfield finish him?

Khan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mayfield is one step ahead there.

Mayfield has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Mayfield stands up from Khan's guard - Mayfield perhaps looking for a knockout.
Khan seems to have recovered his senses.
Mayfield fails in his attempt to clinch.

Khan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Mayfield is looking to stand up but Khan isn't so interested in that idea.
Mayfield wants to control but Khan passes easily into half guard.

Khan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mayfield's head.

Mayfield is looking to improve his position.
Khan tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mayfield controls his leg.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A head kick by Khan misses
and Mayfield counters with an outside leg kick.
Khan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Khan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Khan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Tyler Mayfield will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Mayfield pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A punch lands to the side of Khan 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A big left from Mayfield misses.
Khan throws a series of punches but Mayfield moves out of range.
Khan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mayfield tries to close the distance and clinch but Khan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Khan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Khan gets to his feet. Mayfield looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Mayfield tries a head kick but it misses.
Khan scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Khan.
Khan stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Khan lands a two punch combo.
Khan is breathing heavily.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Mayfield.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Mayfield throws a left that rocks Khan and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Mayfield dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Khan regain composure!
Khan is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Khan stops Mayfield from passing to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Mayfield wants to lay and pray for a moment but Khan keeps working.
Khan wants to control but Mayfield postures up.
Khan controls the position for a moment.
Khan throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Mayfield drops Khan with a huge uppercut! Khan drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Mayfield is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
