Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Rentz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dilbert Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chavez has chosen When Worlds Colide by Powerman 5000 as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Rentz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dilbert Chavez!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rentz with a poor takedown
and Chavez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A looping hook to the body misses from Chavez. Rentz does a little dance to reset his feet.
Chavez throws a body punch but Rentz moves out of range.
Chavez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Rentz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chavez's guard.
Chavez seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Rentz throws a strike but Chavez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Chavez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rentz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rentz works his foot free and advances to mount.

Rentz looking to land elbow strikes but Chavez uses the position to regain half guard.
Rentz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chavez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Let's hope that Chavez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Chavez feints and as Rentz raises his hands in defense, Chavez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Chavez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Chavez is nestled in close to Rentz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Chavez lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Chavez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rentz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Dilbert Chavez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Chavez connects with a nice short shot to Rentz's temple.

Well Chavez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
