Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Haile Selassie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robin Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Selassie kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Welcome to Jamrock - Damian Marley. Haile Selassie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robin Banks!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Selassie misses with a two punch combination.
Selassie misses with a double jab.
Banks misses with a few strikes there.
Banks tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Banks looks to land a combination. Selassie sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Banks ducks under a wild hook from Selassie.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A jab from Banks finds it's way through Selassie's defenses.
Banks moves out of range of the strikes.
Banks shoots in looking for a takedown but Selassie manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Banks's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Banks lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Selassie circles away quickly and effectively.

and Banks counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Banks.
Banks stands and throws Selassie's legs to the side, diving into side control.

You can see the frustration on Selassie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Selassie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Banks wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Banks takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Banks looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Banks is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Selassie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Selassie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Banks pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Banks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Selassie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Robin Banks comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Banks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
