PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Medium John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and john dot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John comes into the arena with Medium John: I love Porno blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

John clinches up with dot and pushes him back against the ropes.
John tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. dot just stands there and leans against the ropes.
dot stalling.

dot pulls guard effortlessly.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
John is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

dot has his foot on John's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. John works his way back into a safe position though.
John seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
dot really doesn't want to stay on the ground with John. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
dot is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Medium John has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from John.
dot takes a shot right to the bread basket.

John drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
John sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed dot's guard.
John content to control rather than advance.
dot tries to get to full guard but John has control of the leg.
John lands strikes from half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
John landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

John stands up and beckons dot to join him on the feet.
dot shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and John counters with a nice low kick that buckles dot's knee momentarily.
dot looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

John scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Still in half guard, John seems content to control.
John passes to side control.
The referee asks John politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. John prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
dot on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

John stands up and beckons dot to his feet.

John has managed to clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by John.

John manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
dot trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
John wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
John might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
dot wants to control from the top but John keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

John shoots in and gets a takedown into dot's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

John stands up and waves to dot to follow him.
dot on the wrong end of a nice jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Medium John dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

John misses with a takedown attempt

and dot counters with a takedown into side control.
John manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
John passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for dot!
John landing strikes from the mount.
John lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The referee warns dot that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Medium John overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
John lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
John has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of dot's face.
dot is breathing heavily.
John controlling the position easily from mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
John's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

John is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. dot is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. dot flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. John anticipates the leg and manages to get behind dot and secures both hooks! This could be bad! John slips an arm under dot chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. John has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. John is squeezing on dot like an anaconda would it's prey. dot fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
