Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tokugawa Kazunari! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Poncho Villa! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Villa throws a lazy uppercut
and Kazunari counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Villa misses with a takedown attempt and Kazunari cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Villa throws an off balance right hand
and Kazunari counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Villa takes one to the chin there. Villa misses with a lunging right hand
and Kazunari counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Villa with a poor takedown and Kazunari counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Kazunari sizes up Villa with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Villa throws an off balance right hand
and Kazunari counters with a lovely straight right hand! Kazunari scores with a jab. Kazunari displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Kazunari lands with a cross. Kazunari jabs Villa right on the nose. Villa blinks but takes it well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Villa on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Villa tries for a takedown but Kazunari circles away easily and Kazunari counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Villa's guard now. Tokugawa Kazunari has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Poncho Villa. Kazunari scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Villa looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kazunari landing with the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Villa looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kazunari puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Kazunari working over Villa with some ground and pound. Villa looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Kazunari is controlling the pace.
Villa is looking to improve his position.
Kazunari takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Kazunari frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Villa wants to hold on but Kazunari pushes him away. Kazunari working the ground and pound effectively.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kazunari is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Villa is forced to tap! Great finish!
