Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Klaus Engbloom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Niko Piere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Klaus Engbloom! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Niko Piere! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Engbloom avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Piere tries to clinch but Engbloom is having none of it. Piere slips a straight right by Engbloom. Piere checks a low kick from Engbloom. Engbloom swings for the body but Piere moves out of range.
Engbloom thows a body shot but no joy. Engbloom swats away the attempt to clinch by Piere. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Engbloom throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Piere. Piere throws a low kick but Engbloom avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Engbloom drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Piere keeping moving, preventing Engbloom from controlling successfully. Piere tries to land a sweep but no joy. Engbloom with a flurry of punches that miss. Piere avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Engbloom will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Engbloom drops back, looking for a kneebar! Piere looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Piere looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Piere! You can see the frustration on Engbloom's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Engbloom has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Engbloom is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Engbloom prevents Piere from moving into mount. Piere creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Engbloom sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Engbloom on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Piere sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Engbloom is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Engbloom really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Engbloom can't do much from the bottom here. Engbloom tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Piere wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Engbloom on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Engbloom tries to get out of the position. Engbloom manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Engbloom looking for submissions off his back. Piere prevents Engbloom from improving his position. Piere wants to free his trapped foot but Engbloom is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Engbloom slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Engbloom is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Engbloom tries to land a sweep but no joy. Engbloom is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Engbloom keeping full guard, as Piere tries to pass. Piere in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Engbloom working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Piere doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Piere manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Piere stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Engbloom swivels though and keeps the full guard. Piere postures up.
Piere postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Engbloom escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Piere gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Engbloom has his foot on Piere's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Piere works his way back into a safe position though. Piere tries to free his leg and advance position but Engbloom is retaining full guard. Engbloom looking to hit a scissor sweep but Piere is one step ahead there. Piere really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Engbloom. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Piere with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Piere makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Engbloom looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Engbloom lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Piere! Piere holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Engbloom tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Klaus Engbloom dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Piere slips under a jab. Engbloom avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round. Engbloom landing with the ground and pound. Klaus Engbloom overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Engbloom throws and elbow that misses. Piere uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Engbloom's guard. Nice move by Piere! Piere wants to pass the guard but Engbloom is keeping the position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Engbloom is on top in guard.
Engbloom thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Engbloom throwing strikes but missing. Engbloom loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Engbloom is looking to work some ground and pound but Piere has wrist control. Engbloom throws a strike but Piere rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Engbloom escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Piere gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Engbloom has his foot on Piere's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Piere works his way back into a safe position though. Engbloom has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Piere doesn't defend quickly enough and Engbloom has managed to lock this one up! Can Piere escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Engbloom on a fantastic submission victory.
