PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shuvel Bro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Shuvel Bro was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shuvel Bro!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bro lands with a right hand.
Liddell tests Bro's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Bro wants to clinch
and Liddell counters with a straight right hand.
Bro throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bro throws a lazy head kick

so Liddell counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bro is looking to stand up but Liddell isn't so interested in that idea.
Liddell is working Bro over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Liddell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bro wants to sweep here but Liddell controlling him for the moment.
Liddell prevents Bro from getting back to his feet.
Liddell content to stall in guard here.
Liddell chips away with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Liddell is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

and Liddell counters with a shoot takedown. Bro fights it but they end up in guard.

Liddell stands up over Bro, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Liddell trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bro wants to get back to his feet but Liddell is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Bro has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Liddell has passed into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Liddell tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Liddell is working Bro over with some ground and pound from side control.
Liddell cracks Bro with a big right hand but Bro just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Bro is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Bro is trying to stand.
Bro tries to roll over but Liddell keeps him under control.
Bro looks gassed!

Liddell is looking for a kimura but Bro is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Liddell to get the leverage.
Bro wants to improve his position but Liddell is controlling well.
Liddell is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Bro trying to control here.
Bro is trying to stand back up but Liddell is controlling him

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chuck Liddell.

and Liddell counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Bro!

Bro wants to control but Liddell is having none of it.

Liddell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bro as he avoids it easily.
Bro tries to clinch but Liddell moves away

and Liddell counters with a shoot takedown. Bro fights it but they end up in guard.

Bro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Liddell is controlling him.
Liddell tries to free his leg and advance position but Bro is retaining full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Liddell loads up on a big right hand but Bro slips the punch.

Liddell chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Bro can pounce on him.
Bro keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bro fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Liddell counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Liddell.
Bro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Liddell is controlling him.
Bro looking to hit a scissor sweep but Liddell is one step ahead there.
Liddell wants to control from the top but Bro keeps moving.
Bro wants to stand and escape but Liddell is having none of it.
Bro looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Liddell puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Bro pushes Liddell off looking to stand but Liddell dives back in and keeps control.
Chuck Liddell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Liddell has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Liddell pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Liddell seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bro for as long as he can get away with.
Bro tries to buck Liddell off but he can't manage it.

Liddell postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Bro looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Bro takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Bro throws a head kick but Liddell moves out of range.
Liddell misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

and Liddell counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bro's guard now.

Bro uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Bro takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

so Liddell counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Liddell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Liddell pushing down on Bro's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Liddell is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Shuvel Bro has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Liddell is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bro doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Liddell.
