Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vasechkin Nikolai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Los Loco!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loco uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nikolai.
Nikolai tries to clinch but Loco is having none of it.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Loco.
Loco fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Nikolai.
Nikolai wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Nikolai shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nikolai is trying hard to land a takedown here. Loco sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Loco connects with a high kick.
Loco slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Loco leaves Nikolai with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Loco makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

We're going to have a standup here because Vasechkin Nikolai wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Nikolai shoots in for a double leg but Loco sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

With the fighters up against the cage, Loco throws an elbow but misses.

Nikolai goes for a takedown in the clinch but Loco prevents it.

Nikolai jumps guard but Loco stands there with Nikolai around his waist. Nikolai gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Loco takes the fight into the clinch.
Nikolai tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Loco smiles and moves away.
Loco misses with a double jab
and Nikolai counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Nikolai blocks a head kick by Loco.
A head kick from Loco lands but Nikolai takes it in his stride.
Nikolai throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Nikolai shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Nikolai perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Nikolai seems to be looking for submissions.
Nikolai prevents Loco from improving his position.
Nikolai not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Nikolai decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Both fighters circling a little - Loco finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Loco throws a jab when Nikolai was well out of range.

Loco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nikolai. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nikolai has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Vasechkin Nikolai just wasn't active enough.
Nikolai shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Loco misses the body punch
and Nikolai counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Loco tries to clinch up.
Nikolai closes the distance but Loco moves to the side
and Loco counters with an outside leg kick.
Nikolai looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Loco is fending him off so far but Nikolai persists. Nope, Loco circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vasechkin Nikolai. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nikolai fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Loco avoids it really well and circles away.

Loco tries to clinch there but Nikolai circles away.
Loco rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nikolai moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nikolai doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Loco counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Nikolai misses with a double jab
and Loco counters with a nice leg kick.
Nikolai takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nikolai is on top in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Loco can do anything to dispel that myth.

Loco is working an open guard so Nikolai takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Nikolai shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nikolai was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Nikolai jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Loco manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Nikolai is looking to take a break and control but Loco is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Loco is trying to escape the position but Nikolai is controlling the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Vasechkin Nikolai.
I think Nikolai has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
