Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Lloyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brett Ruffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Lloyd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brett Ruffin! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruffin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Lloyd pushes Ruffin off looking to stand but Ruffin dives back in and keeps control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lloyd trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Ruffin lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Lloyd tries to kick Ruffin off but Ruffin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Lloyd is breathing heavily. Lloyd won't allow Ruffin to pass to mount. Ruffin prevents Lloyd from standing back up.
Lloyd kicks Ruffin off and gets back to his feet. Ruffin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lloyd tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ruffin is in Lloyd's guard. Ruffin drops back looking for a leg! Lloyd is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lloyd manages to kick Ruffin off! Ruffin jumps back into Lloyd's guard. Ruffin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruffin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The fighters roll with the hold and Lloyd manages to kick Ruffin off! Ruffin jumps back into Lloyd's guard. Lloyd kicks Ruffin off and gets to his feet. Ruffin shoots in for a takedown but Lloyd shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Ruffin slips a jab and a cross from Lloyd.

Lloyd connects with a leg kick. Ruffin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Ruffin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lloyd thuds a left hand into Ruffin's body. Ruffin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lloyd avoids it really well and circles away. Lloyd uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Lloyd scores with the left hand. Ruffin knows he should have avoided that one. Lloyd keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Jim Lloyd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brett Ruffin. Lloyd lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ruffin circles away quickly and effectively. A punch combination from Lloyd misses. Lloyd goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Ruffin looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ruffin passes Lloyd's right leg, so he's now in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brett Ruffin dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

letting Lloyd counter with a right hand. Ruffin throws a hook to the side of Lloyd's head but Lloyd sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Lloyd scores with a three punch combo!
Brett Ruffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ruffin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ruffin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Ruffin sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Ruffin looking to secure an arm triangle but Lloyd defends it well. Lloyd wants to try and get back to his feet. Ruffin has hold of Lloyd's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Lloyd manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Lloyd is trying to stand up. Lloyd is in a horrible position here. Ruffin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruffin lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Lloyd hang on? Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Lloyd is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Lloyd looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Ruffin! Submission of the night perhaps?
