PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Boa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gravy Train (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boa comes to the cage accompanied by Zappa-Why does it hurt when I pee?. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Gravy Train enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Boa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gravy Train!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Train with a lazy takedown attempt
and Boa counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Train stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Train wants it to stay on the feet.
Train tries to clinch but Boa moves out of range.
Train keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Boa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Train bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Boa is trying to keep Train in close.
Train throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Train working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Train throwing strikes from guard but Boa blocks nicely.
Boa is pulling down on Train's head to control his posture.
Boa keeping moving, preventing Train from controlling successfully.
Boa looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Train pushes down on Boa's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Train is looking to take a break and control but Boa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Train wants to free his trapped foot but Boa is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Train thows a huge punch but Boa dodges it nicely.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Boa is not content to let Train control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Train tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Train has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Boa is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Train's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Boa tries to roll over but Train keeps him under control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boa manages to get to full guard.
Train trying to control the position from guard on top but Boa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boa pulls Train in close to prevent any damage.

Train is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Boa is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Boa has escaped and now he's on top!
Train tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boa with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Boa throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Train is looking for a triangle but Boa pushes his legs off easily.
Boa trying to control but Train is working from the bottom.
Boa trying to stand up but can't free himself from Train's guard.
Boa looking to pass the guard.
Boa wants to control from the top but Train keeps moving.
Train is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Train is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Boa dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Boa jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Gravy Train seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Train misses with a takedown attempt

and Boa counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Train is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Boa defends well.
Boa trying to control but Train is working from the bottom.

Boa throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Boa wants to take a breather but Train is having none of it.

Boa is working for a kimura but Train is defending it quite comfortably.
Boa trying to pass the guard but Train defending well.
Train keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Boa is trying to control the action in half guard but Train is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Train is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Boa's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Boa's back!

Train is cranking Boa's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Boa! He's tightened the choke and Boa is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Gravy Train!
