PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Georges Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Hansen will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Georges Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Hansen!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Hansen as Jones shoots in.
Jones throws a big shot that misses.

Hansen clinches.
Hansen throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Jones blocks it with crossed arms.
Jones jumps guard but Hansen stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jones avoids a wild elbow strike from Hansen.

Jones wants the takedown. Hansen is fighting it off but Jones persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hansen's guard against the cage.
Hansen is looking to stand up but Jones isn't so interested in that idea.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Hansen is retaining full guard.
Jones will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hansen lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.
Hansen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hansen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Jones pushes Hansen off and scrambles back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jones.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Hansen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Hansen is pressing down on Jones's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jones is holding on for now.

Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Chris Hansen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hansen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back!
Jones rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Jones wants to control but Hansen is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jones keeps the fight on the outside.
Hansen fails in his attempt to clinch.

Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hansen counters with a left and a right that stings Jones.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jones misses the jab.

Jones darts in and clinches Hansen up against the cage.
Hansen looking to throw knees to the head but Jones is blocking nicely.

Jones gets control of Hansen's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jones will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hansen is looking to stand up but Jones won't let him.

Hansen stands up and waves to Jones to follow him.

Jones has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Hansen rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.
Jones misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hansen softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Jones tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hansen smiles and moves away.
An inside leg kick from Jones misses.
Hansen plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Chris Hansen.
I think Hansen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
