Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Max Akula! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yaroslav Glinko! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Glinko shoots in and drives through. Akula sprawls well. Glinko tries to clinch but Akula is having none of it. Glinko will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Yaroslav Glinko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Glinko lands a high kick!
Good leg kick by Glinko there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Akula throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Glinko tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Akula is in Glinko's guard. Akula postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Glinko is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Akula, into his guard. Akula pushes Glinko off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Glinko lands a high kick!
That's one minute gone in the round. Glinko tries for a takedown but Akula circles away easily and Akula counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Max Akula has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yaroslav Glinko. Akula is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Akula is just content to waste time from the top position. Glinko takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Akula passes into half guard. Akula is looking to advance position but Glinko won't allow it. Akula is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Akula thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Akula goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Glinko has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Akula but great work by Glinko. Akula is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Glinko's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Akula is trying to stand back up but Glinko is controlling him
Akula is breathing heavily. Akula manages to escape and get back to his feet! Glinko fails with the takedown and Akula counters with a nice double leg into guard. Akula throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Glinko works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Akula pushes down on Glinko's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Akula missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Akula thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Glinko's head. Glinko is defending against the submission attempts here by Akula.

Glinko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Akula. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Glinko flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Akula in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Glinko tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Akula!
