Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maxim Banajev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Larson comes to the cage accompanied by Sweet Child of Mine. Banajev has chosen Arcana - Autumnal as his entrance music. Dan Larson could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Maxim Banajev's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Larson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maxim Banajev! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Banajev shoots in for a takedown but Larson shows good takedown defense. Larson throws an off balance right hand
so Banajev counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Larson is looking to stand up but Banajev isn't so interested in that idea. Banajev is pushing down on Larson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Larson is fighting to maintain full guard but Banajev has managed to sneak the leg through. Banajev prevents Larson from standing back up.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Banajev tries to pass to full mount but Larson defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Banajev stops Larson from getting back to his feet.
Banajev wants to control but Larson is keeping him busy.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Larson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Banajev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Larson is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Banajev tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Banajev punching from mount but Larson doing a good job of avoiding damage. Banajev unloads with some shots from mount but Larson bucks and avoids them well.
Banajev looking to control and managing it successfully. Larson wants to try and get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Banajev takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Banajev working the ground and pound effectively.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Banajev sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Banajev shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Larson tries to kick Banajev off in order to stand up. Banajev Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Banajev wants to lay and pray for a moment but Larson keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Larson is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Banajev just content to control the position. Larson tries to escape but Banajev is in control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Banajev controls the position.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Maxim Banajev hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. No luck with that takedown attempt from Banajev. Dan Larson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Banajev closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Larson did well to prevent Banajev getting side control. Banajev is stalling here. Larson is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Banajev seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Larson has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Banajev is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Banajev sneaks out the side door and pushes Larson away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Banajev looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Larson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Banajev counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Banajev. Banajev trying to control but Larson is working from the bottom. Banajev slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Larson wants to stand and escape but Banajev is having none of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Maxim Banajev hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Larson misses the shot to the body. Banajev closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Larson quickly recovers to half guard. Larson tries to kick Banajev off but Banajev keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Banajev stalling away here and it's allowed Larson to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Banajev trying to control but Larson is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maxim Banajev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Larson stuffs the takedown attempt from Banajev. Banajev gets slowly back to his feet. Larson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Larson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Banajev looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Banajev controlling the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Larson looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Maxim Banajev. Larson misses with a shot to the body and Banajev counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Larson's guard now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Larson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Banajev off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Larson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Banajev counters with a nice double leg into side control. Larson won't be happy with that. Banajev creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Larson wants to get back to his feet but Banajev is dominant here and he's now got Larson's back! Banajev scores with punches to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Banajev controlling from the back. Banajev's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Banajev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Larson has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Dan Larson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
And that's the end of the fight! Maxim Banajev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Banajev winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
