The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rook misses with a leg kick.
Rook throws a body punch but Buckner moves out of range.
Buckner throws a body punch but Rook moves out of range.
Buckner tries a head kick but it misses.
Buckner rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Rook counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rook keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rook lands a nice shot that snaps Buckner's head back.
Buckner throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rook ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Buckner has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rook finds it's way round the side to connect with Buckner's head.
Buckner throws a lazy right hand but Rook sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Buckner scores with a hook to the body. Rook takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Rook connects with a good right hand that stumbles Buckner. Buckner circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Rook connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Rook throws a half hearted mid kick.
Buckner misses with an uppercut
and Rook counters with a left to the body.
Buckner is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Buckner misses with a low kick.
Rook thuds a left hand into Buckner's body.
Rook throws a low kick, looking for Buckner's leg but Buckner calmly moves out of range.
Buckner takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Buckner has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rook looks to land a combination. Buckner sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Buckner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rook is fending him off so far but Buckner persists. Nope, Rook circles away and we're back to standing.
Rook fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Buckner is breathing heavily.

Nice uppercut lands for Rook. That snapped Buckner's head back.
Rook lands a nice looking body shot.
Rook throws a good cross that connects.

Rook uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Buckner has time to react.

Rook buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Rook is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Buckner had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Buckner takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rook lands a right hook to the body.
Rook dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Buckner. That did some damage!

Rook wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Rook digs a good body shot into Buckner's ribs.

Rook thuds his right hand into Buckner's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Buckner is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Danga de danga de dang - Rook scores with a four punch combination!
Buckner throws a wild hook but Rook just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Buckner gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the ropes! The referee jumps in - Rook raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jonathon Rook!
