Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bobby Lashley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adrian Rostecki! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lashley misses with a takedown attempt and Rostecki counters with a straight right hand. Lashley sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lashley has his takedown stuffed and Rostecki counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rostecki. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lashley is breathing heavily. Rostecki trying to control the position from guard on top but Lashley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rostecki with a flurry of punches that miss. Rostecki avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rostecki looking to pass the guard. Rostecki wants to stand but Lashley has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Rostecki wants to control from the top but Lashley keeps moving. Lashley looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rostecki must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Rostecki has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lashley is proving hard to escape from.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rostecki drops back looking for a leg! Lashley is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lashley manages to kick Rostecki off! Rostecki jumps back into Lashley's guard. Rostecki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lashley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rostecki has managed to get both his arms back between Lashley's legs - danger averted. Rostecki wanted to stand there but Lashley had control of the position. Rostecki is stalling in the full guard. Lashley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rostecki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rostecki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rostecki wants to control from the top but Lashley keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rostecki stands and throws Lashley's legs to the side, diving into side control. Rostecki working the head with strikes. Rostecki throws an elbow but Lashley slips to the side and avoids it well. Lashley stops Rostecki from passing to mount. Rostecki working the ground and pound. Rostecki trying to control the position but Lashley is working away. Rostecki is working Lashley over with some ground and pound from side control. Rostecki tries to move to mount but Lashley blocks the move with his legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rostecki controls the position. Lashley is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The ground and pound from Rostecki seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Rostecki working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Rostecki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lashley keeps working. Rostecki tries to move to mount but Lashley blocks the move with his legs. Rostecki decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lashley to his feet. Lashley misses with a takedown attempt and Rostecki counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Lashley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lashley is looking for a triangle but Rostecki pushes his legs off easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lashley keeping moving, preventing Rostecki from controlling successfully. Rostecki forces his way into half guard. Rostecki is trying to control the action in half guard but Lashley is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Lashley looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Rostecki not landing any meaningful shots this time. Lashley looking for submissions off his back. Rostecki content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rostecki seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Adrian Rostecki dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Rostecki lands a lovely overhand right. Nice sprawl there from Lashley as Rostecki shoots in. Rostecki tries to close the distance and clinch but Lashley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Lashley gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rostecki to score an easy takedown into full guard. Rostecki is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Rostecki trying to control but Lashley is working from the bottom. Rostecki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lashley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rostecki looking to pass the guard. Lashley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Lashley is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Rostecki has his hands clasped together but Lashley extends an breaks Rostecki's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Lashley.
