Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ogie Oglethorpe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Gustavo Ribeiro!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Dean Styles and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oglethorpe tries to clinch there but Ribeiro circles away.
Ribeiro misses with a low kick.
Oglethorpe misses with an uppercut. Ribeiro saw that one coming.
A big left from Oglethorpe misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Oglethorpe misses the target.
Ribeiro scores with a jab to the body.
Oglethorpe slips under a jab from Ribeiro.
Ribeiro fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Oglethorpe stuffs the takedown attempt from Ribeiro. Ribeiro gets slowly back to his feet.

Ribeiro closes the distance and clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Oglethorpe throws a head punch that misses.
Oglethorpe swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Ribeiro jumps guard.
Oglethorpe throws and elbow that misses. Ribeiro uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Oglethorpe's guard. Nice move by Ribeiro!
Ribeiro pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Oglethorpe is keeping the position for now.
Ribeiro working some strikes from top position.
Ribeiro trying to control but Oglethorpe is working from the bottom.
Ribeiro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Oglethorpe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ribeiro is looking to work some ground and pound but Oglethorpe has wrist control.

Ribeiro stands and steps away. Oglethorpe gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ribeiro tries to grapple but his opponent circles
enabling Oglethorpe to counter with a crisp jab.
Ribeiro uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Oglethorpe.

Oglethorpe gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Ribeiro has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Oglethorpe is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Ogie Oglethorpe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gustavo Ribeiro.
Oglethorpe gets underhooks to prevent Ribeiro's takedown attempt.

Oglethorpe misses with a short punch on the inside.

Ribeiro gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Ribeiro is keen to just control but Oglethorpe is a slippery customer.
Ribeiro works his foot free and advances to mount.
Oglethorpe is trying to stand.
Poor strikes thrown by Ribeiro there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Oglethorpe trying desperately to get to his feet.

Ribeiro swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Oglethorpe is now in Ribeiro's guard. A big mistake from Ribeiro there, giving up the dominant position!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ribeiro trying to keep a closed guard but Oglethorpe is proving a slippery customer.

Oglethorpe is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Ribeiro has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Oglethorpe is looking to defend but Ribeiro has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Oglethorpe! Ribeiro pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Oglethorpe taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Gustavo Ribeiro!
