Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tangerine Dream (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas comes to the cage accompanied by Devil went down to Georgia. Dream is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by One 24. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Thomas! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tangerine Dream! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dream throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Dream takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Dream lands with a thumping leg kick.
Thomas throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dream counters with a nice leg kick. Dream slips under a jab from Thomas. Thomas shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Thomas showed some decent athleticism there. Dream keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Thomas is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dream sees it coming and defends easily. Thomas throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Dream is trying to control but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thomas not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Dream keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Dream really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thomas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Thomas is looking for a kimura but Dream is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Thomas to get the leverage. Dream is not content to let Thomas control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thomas looks to land a strike but Dream avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Dream keeping moving, preventing Thomas from controlling successfully. Thomas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Thomas postures up in Dream's guard and throws a big left but Dream blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Thomas throws a strike but Dream rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Dream stays in close to Thomas's body and controls the position. Dream avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Thomas is looking to sweep but instead, Dream has passed into half guard.
Thomas is trying to maintain the position but Dream is very close to passing his half guard. Thomas wants to improve his position but Dream is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Thomas wants to get back to full guard. Thomas is pressing down on Dream's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Dream wants to stand but Thomas has a closed guard, so he can't escape. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Thomas will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Dream throws a low kick but Thomas moves out of range easily. Dream looks to throw a body kick and Thomas counters with a series of strikes. Dream will be more careful next time no doubt. Dream missing with a left hand there. Thomas was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Dream lands the left hand. Dream moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Thomas moves out of range as Dream strikes. Dream connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Dream tries to land a front kick but Thomas steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Dream pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dream fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. A chopping leg kick lands by Dream. Dream lands a body shot.
Dream needs to keep his hands up - Thomas had a free shot at his head there. Thomas looks to land a combination but Dream avoids it well. That kick from Dream tenderised Thomas's leg. Thomas is trying to keep his angry face on.
That's one minute gone in the round. Some wild striking there from Thomas.
Thomas tries a head kick but it misses.
Thomas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dream was well out of range. Poor timing from Thomas. Dream wants to land a leg kick but Thomas is out of range. Thomas misses with an uppercut. Dream saw that one coming. A low kick from Dream is predictable there and Thomas counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Thomas. Thomas prevents Dream from getting back to his feet. Thomas has gone for a leg lock! Dream slips out almost immediately though and dives into Thomas's guard. Dream content to stall in guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thomas looking for subs off his back but Dream has passed one foot through into half guard.

Dream looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Thomas manages to get to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dream is posturing up here but Thomas has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Dream tries to roll out but it's too tight and Dream has to tap! Slick submission there by Thomas!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Thomas! John Thomas retains his middleweight title!
