Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Raje Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Marquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marquez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Smoke on The Water. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricardo Marquez! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Roberts and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Malapitan drives through with a takedown into guard. Malapitan looking to pass the guard. Malapitan is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Marquez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Marquez has escaped and now he's on top! Marquez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Malapitan is keeping the position for now. Marquez has gone for a leg lock! Malapitan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Marquez's guard. Malapitan drops back looking for a leg! Marquez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Marquez manages to kick Malapitan off! Malapitan jumps back into Marquez's guard. Marquez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's one minute gone in the round. Malapitan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marquez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Malapitan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marquez swivels though and keeps the full guard. Marquez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Malapitan wants to control from the top but Marquez keeps moving. Marquez trying to keep a closed guard but Malapitan is proving a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Marquez tries to land a sweep but no joy. Marquez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Malapitan's guard. Marquez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Malapitan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Marquez has Malapitan in his guard. Marquez looks gassed! Malapitan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Malapitan tries to free his leg and advance position but Marquez is retaining full guard. Marquez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Marquez might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Malapitan kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Malapitan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Marquez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Malapitan, into his guard. Marquez tries to free his leg and advance position but Malapitan is retaining full guard.

Marquez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Malapitan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Malapitan has escaped and now he's on top! Malapitan wants to pass the guard but Marquez is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Raje Malapitan dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Marquez sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Malapitan wants to free his trapped foot but Marquez is holding on for dear life with his legs. Marquez is refusing to be controlled, as Malapitan sits in half guard. Marquez is trying is best to control the position here. Malapitan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Malapitan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Marquez is looking to control Malapitan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Marquez avoid being mounted?
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ricardo Marquez was stalling too much, according to the referee. Marquez with a lazy takedown attempt and Malapitan counters with a shoot takedown. Marquez fights it but they end up in guard. Marquez controls Malapitan momentarily but Malapitan frees himself. Malapitan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Malapitan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Malapitan stands and steps away. Marquez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Marquez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Malapitan counters with a single leg into guard. Marquez didn't expect that. Marquez controls Malapitan momentarily but Malapitan frees himself. Malapitan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Marquez is proving hard to escape from. Malapitan drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Marquez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Malapitan has Marquez in his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marquez passes Malapitan's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Marquez has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Malapitan defend it? Marquez steps over the head and cranks it - Malapitan is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Marquez!
