Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Suchart Chaowanungkarn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Piper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Chaowanungkarn might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Muay Thai fight music. Rick Piper has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Suchart Chaowanungkarn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rick Piper! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chaowanungkarn tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Piper counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Piper fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Chaowanungkarn throws a low kick, looking for Piper's leg but Piper calmly moves out of range. Chaowanungkarn wants to clinch and Piper counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Chaowanungkarn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chaowanungkarn tries to land a front kick but Piper steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Chaowanungkarn darts in and clinches Piper up against the cage. Chaowanungkarn creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Piper's defenses. Chaowanungkarn with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Piper goes for a takedown in the clinch but Chaowanungkarn prevents it.
Piper drops down looking for an ankle pick but Chaowanungkarn pulls his leg out and moves away.
Suchart Chaowanungkarn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Piper. Piper gets tackled into the cage by Chaowanungkarn. Chaowanungkarn maintains the clinch. Piper stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Chaowanungkarn working Piper over with knees to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Piper is working for takedown but Chaowanungkarn is calmly controlling the position for now. Piper changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Chaowanungkarn fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Chaowanungkarn wants to clinch. Chaowanungkarn closes the distance looking to clinch and Piper counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chaowanungkarn won't be happy with that. Piper cracks Chaowanungkarn with an elbow. That is naaassty. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chaowanungkarn tries to bench press Piper off him but Piper keeps the position. Piper is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. You can see the frustration on Chaowanungkarn's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Piper in side control lands a decent elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chaowanungkarn manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Piper trying to control here.

so Piper counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Chaowanungkarn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Chaowanungkarn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Piper on the ground. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Suchart Chaowanungkarn wasn't doing enough on the ground. Piper circles away from the clinch attempt and Piper counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Piper. Chaowanungkarn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Chaowanungkarn looking for a sweep. Not yet Chaowanungkarn, not yet. Chaowanungkarn utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Chaowanungkarn is trying to keep Piper in close.

Piperis looking to pass into half guard but Chaowanungkarn pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Chaowanungkarn is in guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Piper not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Chaowanungkarn drops back looking for a leg! Piper is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Piper manages to kick Chaowanungkarn off! Chaowanungkarn jumps back into Piper's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Suchart Chaowanungkarn showed his dominance in that final round. I think Piper has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
