Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Craig Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drako Vonstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Armstrong comes to the cage accompanied by We Were Soldiers by Sgt. Mackenzie. Vonstein has chosen AC/DC Thunderstruck (techno) as his entrance music. Craig Armstrong could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Drako Vonstein's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Craig Armstrong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drako Vonstein! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Armstrong shoots and misses and Vonstein counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Armstrong makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Armstrong. Vonstein wants to pass the guard but Armstrong is keeping the position. Vonstein working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Armstrong keeping moving, preventing Vonstein from controlling successfully. Armstrong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Vonstein has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Vonstein pushes down on Armstrong's leg and manages to get into half guard. Vonstein wants to take a breather but Armstrong is having none of it. Armstrong gets back to full guard.

Armstrong looking for a sweep. Not yet Armstrong, not yet.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Drako Vonstein hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Vonstein fails with the takedown and Armstrong counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Vonstein! Vonstein is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Armstrong throws some wild stikes that Vonstein manages to avoid easily.

Armstrong lands a big elbow. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Armstrong stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from Vonstein enables Armstrong to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vonstein manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Armstrong's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Armstrong is working Vonstein over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Vonstein is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Vonstein is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Armstrong advances to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vonstein wants to control but Armstrong is keeping busy.

Armstrong working over Vonstein with some ground and pound. Vonstein looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Vonstein trying to hold on to Armstrong's head to control him but Armstrong postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Armstrong is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Vonstein avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Armstrong. Armstrong prevents Vonstein from improving his position. Vonstein looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Armstrong missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Armstrong landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Vonstein tries to get to full guard but Armstrong has control of the leg. Armstrong slows the pace down in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Craig Armstrong dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Armstrong working the ground and pound but Vonstein is defending the strikes. Armstrong wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vonstein keeps working. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vonstein on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Armstrong looks up at the clock and then as Vonstein takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Armstrong smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

It looks like Drako Vonstein has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Vonstein is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Armstrong landing strikes from the mount and Vonstein is in trouble! Armstrong scores with a couple of good head shots there.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Vonstein suckers Armstrong into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Vonstein is now in Armstrong's guard!
Armstrong tries to land a sweep but no joy. Armstrong can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Vonstein controls the pace. Vonstein tries to free his leg and advance position but Armstrong is retaining full guard. Vonstein won't allow Armstrong to sweep him here. Armstrong pulls Vonstein in close to prevent any damage. Armstrong looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Vonstein drops back looking for a leg! Armstrong is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Armstrong manages to kick Vonstein off! Vonstein jumps back into Armstrong's guard.

Vonstein trying to control the position from guard on top but Armstrong is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Armstrong wants to sweep but no luck. Vonstein is fighting to break Armstrong's control of his arms but Armstrong is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Vonstein stands and throws Armstrong's legs to the side, diving into side control. Vonstein trying to control the action but Armstrong is working from the bottom. Armstrong is trying to control Vonstein's posture but Vonstein avoids it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Armstrong is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Vonstein off and has taken his back! Armstrong lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. Armstrong wants to control the position but Vonstein frees himself and scrambles - Armstrong manages to regain control in side control.
Vonstein wants to control but Armstrong postures up. Vonstein sneaks back into half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Armstrong not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Craig Armstrong overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Vonstein taking some punishment here, with Armstrong in his half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Craig Armstrong dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Drako Vonstein's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Armstrong defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Vonstein. Vonstein wants to control the pace but Armstrong is squirming around nicely. Vonstein avoids the attempt from Armstrong to control. Armstrong really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Drako Vonstein has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Vonstein can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Armstrong is looking to escape. Armstrong regains half guard. Armstrong is staying active underneath Vonstein, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Vonstein with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Vonstein lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vonstein wants to pass to mount but Armstrong is defending the position. Armstrong is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Vonstein content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Vonstein is just content to waste time from the top position. Armstrong takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Armstrong managing to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Armstrong wants to sweep here but Vonstein controlling him for the moment. Armstrong controlling the position. Vonstein controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Drako Vonstein has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Armstrong closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Vonstein to the mat! Vonstein manages to get full guard. Vonstein escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Armstrong gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Armstrong missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Drako Vonstein comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Armstrong has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
