Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ronaldo Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Demar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Derek Demar was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronaldo Souza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Derek Demar! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Demar!
Derek Demar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Demar misses with the combination.
Souza shoots in and bounces Demar off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Souza distracts Demar with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Souza scoring with some ground and pound. Souza postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Souza controls from within his opponent's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Souza throwing strikes from guard but Demar blocks nicely. Souza might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Souza keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Demar's head. Demar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Souza. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Souza controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Souza stopping the sweep attempt from Demar. Souza throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Demar works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Souza's corner is telling him to maintain position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Souza thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Souza is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Souza has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Demar has momentary wrist control but Souza slips an elbow through the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Souza is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Souza is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Souza makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Souza working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Demar's head. Souza keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Demar's head. Souza content to stall in guard here. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Souza scoring with some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Demar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Souza is controlling him. Demar looks gassed! Souza postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Souza working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Demar's head. Souza lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Souza lands a couple of digs. Souza lands a couple of decent looking shots. Demar being controlled here, momentarily. Souza connects with a couple of short punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Souza stays in close to Demar's body and controls the position. Souza content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Souza working some strikes from top position. Souza is in close to Demar's body, working some short punches and elbows. Souza distracts Demar with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Souza is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Souza keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Demar's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ronaldo Souza dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Souza changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Demar looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Demar takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Souza controls the position. Souza creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Demar is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Demar on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Souza taking a breather here. Souza working the ground and pound. Demar is breathing heavily. Souza has an Americana. Demar didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Souza is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Souza hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
