Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Lake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrew Lake! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lake connects with a nice looking jab.
Brown throws a looping overhand right but Lake ducks down to avoid it. Brown lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Brown fails to land the takedown. Brown closes the distance and clinches up with Lake, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes Lake against the cage but Lake circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Brown thows a body shot but no joy. Brown shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lake as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brown looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Brown is looking to clinch. Lake lands with a right hand. Andrew Lake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lake keeps the fight on the outside. Brown tries for a takedown but Lake sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Lake throws a left and a right that both miss
and Brown counters with a nice kick to the body. Lake throws the left hand but Brown avoids the punch easily. Brown fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Brown tries to clinch up. Brown misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brown. Lake is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Brown is breathing heavily.

Lake scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Lake throws a head kick but Brown moves out of range.
Lake feints and then cracks Brown's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Brown down. A jab from Lake finds it's way through Brown's defenses. Brown wants to clinch up but Lake keeps it at a distance. Lake misses with a few strikes there.
Lake lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Brown moves in looking to clinch but Lake pushes him off. Lake fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Brown drops his hands momentarily and Lake takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Lake rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Brown moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Brown shoots in looking for a takedown. Lake tries to sprawl out of it but Brown keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lake manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Lake misses with a two punch combination.

Brown tries to move into range but Lake moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Brown showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lake.

Lake fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Brown. Lake misses with a series of wild punches.

Lake moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Lake throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Lake explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lake bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Lake throws a right and a left that Brown avoids nicely. Lake keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Lake lands a jab to the nose. Lake lands with a cross. Brown sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Good leg kick by Lake there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Brown counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lake won't be happy with that. Lake manages to work his way to half guard, despite Brown's best efforts. Lake is trying to control but can't.
Lake is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Brown pulls his head out easily. Lake moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Lake bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brown's guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Brown wants to stand up but Lake is controlling him. Brown is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Brown is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Brown controlling from the top position. Lake looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brown is one step ahead there. Lake is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Lake is breathing heavily. Brown manages to escape and get back to his feet! Brown looks to clinch and Lake cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Lake stuffs the takedown attempt from Brown. Brown gets slowly back to his feet. Brown misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brown takes one on the button. Brown tries to clinch but Lake is having none of it. Brown swings for the body but Lake moves out of range.

Lake throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Brown with a flurry of punches that miss. Lake lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Brown! Brown knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lake on the ground. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lake cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Lake has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. A nice elbow there by Lake. Lake cracks Brown with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Brown on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Brown tries to get out of the position. Brown defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Lake. Brown avoids a series of strikes thrown by Lake.

That was a close second round but I would say that Joe Brown will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Brown is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Brown shoots in and bounces Lake off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Lake is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Lake with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Lake shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Lake lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Brown is squirming around, avoiding Lake's attempts to control the action. Brown regains half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Brown looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Lake perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lake lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Brown misses with some strikes from the bottom.
It looks like Lake is going to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lake thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Lake works his way into full mount! Brown wants to hold on but Lake pushes him away. Lake takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Brown can't escape the position.

Lake can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brown is looking to escape. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lake cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Brown can't escape the position.
Brown wants to hold on but Lake pushes him away. Brown is desperately trying to improve his position but Lake has a good base and remains in mount. Lake working the ground and pound effectively.
Lake lands a nice shot to the head. Lake looking to control but Brown is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Joe Brown overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Brown is trying to escape the mount.

And that's the end of the fight! Andrew Lake comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Lake has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
