Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Al Bundy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Thompson! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thompson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Thompson lands with an overhand left. Thompson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Thompson wants it to stay on the feet. An inside leg kick from Bundy misses. Thompson wants to clinch and Bundy counters with a shoot takedown. Thompson fights it but they end up in guard. Thompson keeping moving, preventing Bundy from controlling successfully. Bundy looking to pass the guard. Thompson is looking to stand up but Bundy isn't so interested in that idea. Bundy wants to pass the guard but Thompson is keeping the position. Thompson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bundy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thompson keeping moving, preventing Bundy from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Al Bundy. Bundy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Thompson trying to control but Bundy postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thompson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Thompson wants to improve his position but Bundy is controlling well.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Nick Thompson was stalling too much, according to the referee. Thompson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bundy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thompson but Thompson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Thompson lands with a slapping head kick. Bundy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thompson was covering up waiting for the punch and Bundy finishes the takedown easily into guard. Bundy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Bundy wants to control from the top but Thompson keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Bundy preventing the sweep. Thompson keeping moving, preventing Bundy from controlling successfully.
We're going to have a standup here because Al Bundy wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Thompson misses with a looping right. Thompson throws a leg kick
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. and Bundy counters with a nice double leg into guard. Thompson trying to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Al Bundy dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Thompson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Bundy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Bundy tries to free his leg and advance position but Thompson is retaining full guard. Bundy is working hard here to advance position. Bundy throws and elbow that misses. Thompson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bundy's guard. Nice move by Thompson!
That's one minute gone in the round. Thompson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bundy's guard. Bundy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bundy has Thompson pulled in close to control his posture. Bundy wants to sweep here but Thompson controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. A nice inside leg kick there by Thompson. That's going to slow Bundy down. Thompson closes the distance but Bundy moves to the side and Bundy counters with an outside leg kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Thompson.
Thompson scores with a kick to the body.
Thompson throws a jab but it's blocked by Bundy. Bundy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Thompson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Bundy shoots in looking for a takedown but Thompson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bundy's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Nick Thompson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Thompson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Thompson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. A head kick by Thompson misses and Bundy counters with a takedown into side control. Thompson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bundy wants to advance to full mount but Thompson doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Al Bundy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Thompson keeping moving, preventing Bundy from controlling successfully. Thompson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Thompson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bundy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Bundy throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Bundy stands and throws Thompson's legs to the side, diving into side control. Check out the look on Bundy's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Al Bundy dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bundy. Bundy avoids the body shot from Thompson.
Bundy shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Bundy thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Thompson to regain full guard. Thompson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Bundy looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bundy won't allow Thompson to get back to his feet. Bundy trying to control but Thompson is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Al Bundy has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Thompson throws a quick inside leg kick. Thompson checks a leg kick. Thompson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bundy. Thompson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Bundy keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Nick Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thompson throws a sloppy head kick and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Thompson throws a lazy head kick and Bundy counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Bundy throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Bundy has a takedown stuffed. Thompson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bundy manages to avoid it. Thompson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Bundy tries to land a leg kick but Thompson saw it coming and moves away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thompson scores with a nice body kick.
Thompson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Thompson punishes Bundy's body with a nice straight punch. Bundy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Bundy tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Thompson misses with a kick to the body and Bundy counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bundy. Thompson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Bundy working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Bundy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thompson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Bundy slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Nick Thompson. Thompson fakes the leg kick and cracks Bundy in the body. Thompson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

And that's the end of the fight! Al Bundy showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bundy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
