The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Costa bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De Costa working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Yahya tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but De Costa wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Yahya manages to work his way to half guard, despite De Costa's best efforts.

De Costa drops back looking for a leg! Yahya is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Yahya manages to kick De Costa off! De Costa jumps back into Yahya's guard.
De Costa will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Yahya had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. De Costa defends it easily.

De Costa is sitting in close to Yahya's body. Yahya has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! De Costa is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, De Costa is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Yahya.
