Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hiroishi Strichi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pepe Negrete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Strichi kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Pegasus Fantasy. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hiroishi Strichi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pepe Negrete! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Negrete wants to clinch but Strichi slips to the side and Strichi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Negrete won't be happy with that. Who's going to make the next move? Negrete looks to move to half guard but instead Strichi has passed into mount! Damn! Negrete is looking to get to half guard. Negrete regains half guard. Negrete is looking to improve his position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Negrete can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Negrete has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Strichi is working away from the top position though. Negrete is trying to get back to full guard. Negrete regains full guard. Nicely done. Strichi stopping the sweep attempt from Negrete. Negrete throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Negrete trying to keep a closed guard but Strichi is proving a slippery customer.
Negrete looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Negrete controls Strichi momentarily but Strichi frees himself. Negrete manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Strichi is in a horrible position here. Negrete smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Negrete with shots to the head and body - Strichi looks very uncomfortable down there. Strichi is breathing heavily. Strichi taking shots to the head. Negrete throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Strichi is squirming around, avoiding Negrete's attempts to control the action. Negrete dominating with strikes here. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Negrete lands a big shot there that rocks Strichi but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Negrete lands a big elbow. Strichi in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pepe Negrete dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Negrete moves into the clinch successfully.
Negrete tightens his grip and picks Strichi up, before dumping him to the ground. Strichi manages to land in guard. Negrete connects with a couple of short punches. Strichi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Negrete thows a big elbow that misses. Strichi is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Negrete pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Strichi is keeping the position for now. Negrete trying to control the position from guard on top but Strichi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Negrete in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Negrete keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Strichi's head. Negrete working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Negrete connects with a couple of short punches. Negrete throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Strichi works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Negrete drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Negrete jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Negrete scoring with punches to the head and body. Negrete stands up over Strichi, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Negrete with a nice head shot there. Negrete is looking to work some ground and pound but Strichi has wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Strichi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Negrete controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Strichi avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Negrete slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Negrete trying to control the position from guard on top but Strichi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pepe Negrete has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Negrete passes Strichi's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Negrete lands strikes from half guard. Strichi keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Negrete throwing shots but Strichi is blocking nicely. Strichi is defending against the submission attempts here by Negrete.
Negrete winds up and cracks Strichi with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Negrete working the head and body with strikes. Negrete scoring with strikes to the body and head. Negrete scoring with strikes to the body and head. Negrete is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Strichi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Negrete. Ground and pound from Negrete. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pepe Negrete showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Negrete closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Negrete lands a few punches from side control. Negrete working the body and head with strikes. Strichi is working to avoid the ground and pound but Negrete connects with a decent elbow. Strichi stops Negrete from passing to mount. Negrete lands a few punches from side control. Negrete scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Strichi to see if he's OK. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Negrete working the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Strichi parries the strikes from Negrete easily there. Negrete is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Strichi to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Negrete remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Negrete scoring with punches and elbows. Check out the look on Negrete's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hiroishi Strichi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

and Negrete counters with a single leg into guard. Strichi didn't expect that. Negrete engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that's the end of the fight! Pepe Negrete comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Negrete has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
