Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drew Mcnichol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Michaels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcnichol comes to the cage accompanied by AC/DC - Back in Black. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drew Mcnichol! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Michaels! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Michaels moves forwards but Mcnichol connects with a nice, crisp jab. Michaels throws a sloppy head kick and Mcnichol moves out of range easily. Mcnichol fails with a takedown attempt. Mcnichol rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Michaels moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mcnichol closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Mcnichol working away. Mcnichol trying to control the position but Michaels is working away. Sloppy strikes there by Mcnichol. Michaels wants to control but Mcnichol postures up. Mcnichol tries to move into full mount but can't pass Michaels's legs. Michaels can't do much from the bottom here. Mcnichol tries for a kimura but Michaels is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Michaels tries to improve position but can't. Mcnichol looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Michaels is avoiding damage well.
You can see the frustration on Michaels's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mcnichol stands up and beckons Michaels to his feet. Michaels fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mcnichol. Excellent takedown into side control there by Mcnichol. Michaels is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mcnichol taking a breather here. Michaels manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Michaels throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Michaels thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Mcnichol to regain full guard. Mcnichol keeping moving, preventing Michaels from controlling successfully. Mcnichol preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Michaels in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Michaels accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Michaels in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Michaels trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mcnichol avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Michaels must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Michaels throwing strikes from guard but Mcnichol blocks nicely. Mcnichol pushes Michaels off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Michaels throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Mcnichol is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Michaels turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Mcnichol walks forward, straight into a front kick from Michaels. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Thud! ouch! good body kick from Michaels - that will leave a mark!
Drew Mcnichol seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Michaels lands a head kick. Mcnichol smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
It looks like Drew Mcnichol has been cut. Michaels dips to his left and cracks Mcnichol with an uppercut! Michaels scores with a nice right hand.
Mcnichol shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Mcnichol takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Michaels lands a big head kick that sends Mcnichol tumbling to the mat! Michaels takes a step backwards and waves Mcnichol back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Mcnichol is rocked! Mcnichol drops his hands momentarily and Michaels needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Mcnichol just on the top of the head. Mcnichol drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Mcnichol - he's done!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). John Michaels!
