Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Severn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Kimmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Severn's entrance music is Smooth Criminal. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Severn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Kimmo!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimmo thumps Severn with a low kick.
Severn looks to land a left hand but Kimmo moved out of range nicely.
Severn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kimmo throws a leg kick which misses Severn's front leg but catches the back leg as Severn tries to avoid it.
A jab from Kimmo does it's job there.
Horrible takedown by Severn or perhaps it was just good defense by Kimmo which made him look bad.
Severn tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kimmo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Severn shoots in for a takedown but Kimmo shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Severn. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kimmo throws a nice looking combination but Severn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Severn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kimmo sprawls well. Kimmo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Severn gets slowly back to his feet.
Kimmo lands a nice looking body kick.
Severn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Severn throws a sloppy head kick and Kimmo moves out of range easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kimmo lands the left hand.

Severn tries to keep at a distance but Kimmo has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kimmo lands a good knee to the midsection. Severn won't want to take too many of those.
Kimmo is struggling to control the position.
Kimmo unloads a knee to the mid-section. Severn lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Kimmo is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

It looks like Dan Severn has been cut.

Severn has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Kimmo gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Oh Severn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Kimmo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Severn seems to have got his legs back now.
Kimmo lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kimmo lands a nice looking body shot.

Kimmo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kimmo putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Severn in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Kimmo lands with a kick to the temple. Severn shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Kimmo rushes Severn and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Kimmo lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Dan Severn's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Kimmo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Severn stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kimmo.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Severn.
Kimmo thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Severn if he has to take too many more of those.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kimmo scores with a punch to the head.

Kimmo takes the fight into the clinch.
Severn takes a knee right on the jaw!
Severn lands an uppercut.
Kimmo scores with a knee to the head.

Kimmo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A decent looking cross lands there for Kimmo.
Kimmo cracks the inside of Severn's front leg.
Kimmo lands a really nice looking cross but Severn seems unphased.
Severn closes the distance but Kimmo moves to the side
and Kimmo counters with a nice body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kimmo stuffs the takedown attempt from Severn. Severn gets slowly back to his feet.
Dan Severn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Severn shoots in looking for a takedown but Kimmo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Severn's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Severn shoots for a takedown but Kimmo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

A left lands for Kimmo.

Kimmo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Severn, pushing him back against the cage.

Severn tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kimmo smiles and moves away.
Severn takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Kimmo feints and then cracks Severn's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Severn down.

Severn takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Kimmo lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Michael Kimmo seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Severn takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Kimmo stalks Severn and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Severn's face. Severn staggers backwards, shaken.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kimmo lands a knee to the head.

Kimmo is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Severn tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Kimmo counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Severn sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Kimmo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Kimmo lands a leg kick that knocks Severn off balance momentarily.
Kimmo feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Severn's calf.
Severn will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.

Kimmo gets caught flat footed, as Severn shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Severn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kimmo pulls Severn in close to prevent any damage.

Kimmo wriggles free and stands up.
Kimmo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kimmo has managed to clinch.
Kimmo lands an elbow that stopped Severn in his tracks for a moment.
Severn wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kimmo with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


Jeez, Dan Severn's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Severn is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

and Kimmo makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kimmo is pushing Severn up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Kimmo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Kimmo lands with a cross.
Severn tries to clinch but Kimmo moves away
and Kimmo counters with an inside leg kick.
Kimmo throws a quick inside leg kick.
Kimmo paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Kimmo.

Kimmo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Severn wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Severn has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kimmo uses from the top position.

Severn trying to keep a closed guard but Kimmo is proving a slippery customer.
Severn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kimmo is one step ahead there.
Severn is looking to sweep but instead, Kimmo has passed into half guard.
Kimmo perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Michael Kimmo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kimmo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
