Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Evans! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Hanson! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evans feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hansons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Evans rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
letting Hanson counter with a right hand. Evans moves to clinch but Hanson breaks away and Hanson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Hanson misses with a takedown and Evans makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. The fight stays on the outside here - Evans looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Evans is looking to clinch but Hanson is avoiding it.

Evans closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hanson quickly recovers to half guard. Evans thows a huge punch but Hanson dodges it nicely.
Hanson regains full guard. Nicely done. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Evans trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Evans postures up in Hanson's guard and throws a big left but Hanson blocks it.

The referee takes a look at Evans to see if he's OK. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hanson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Evans rushes Hanson and presses him up against the cage. Evans prevents the takedown attempt.

Evans tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hanson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. A lull in the action here as Hanson stalls from top position. Hanson works to advance to full mount. Evans defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Evans is bucking up trying to escape but Hanson cracks him with another couple of good strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jeff Hanson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Evans feints and as Hanson raises his hands in defense, Evans changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hanson looking to control.
Hanson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Evans works over Hanson with some ground and pound from guard. Hanson is figuring out what he wants to do next. Evans is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hanson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Hanson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hanson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Evans throws a nice looking combination but Hanson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Evans scores with a jab. Hanson acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Hanson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Evans. Evans throws out a loose jab but Hanson uses good head movement to avoid it. Evans throws a hook but Hanson avoids it easily. Evans misses the jab. Evans smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Hanson tries to clinch up. Evans feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Evans prevents Hanson from getting back to his feet. Evans got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hanson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Evans has managed to get both his arms back between Hanson's legs - danger averted. Evans trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mark Evans. I think Evans has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
