Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Gardens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Glasschin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melvin Glasschin struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Melvin Glasschin enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcus Gardens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Melvin Glasschin!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Glasschin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Glasschin is looking to clinch.
Glasschin misses with a head kick.
Gardens keeps the fight on the outside.
Glasschin tries a head kick but it misses.
Glasschin scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Gardens shoots in looking for a takedown. Glasschin tries to sprawl out of it but Gardens keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Glasschin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck for Gardens with that takedown attempt.
Glasschin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Glasschin tries a head kick but it misses.

Gardens shoots in and bounces Glasschin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gardens pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Glasschin is keeping the position for now.
Gardens is working hard here to advance position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gardens thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gardens stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Glasschin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gardens drops back looking for a leg! Glasschin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Glasschin manages to kick Gardens off! Gardens jumps back into Glasschin's guard.
Gardens passes into half guard.

Gardens is working for a submission of some sort.
Gardens is breathing heavily.
Gardens is trying to control the action in half guard but Glasschin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gardens is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Glasschin!

Glasschin prevents Gardens from taking his back.
Gardens prevents Glasschin from getting the reversal.

Gardens swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Glasschin is now in Gardens's guard. A big mistake from Gardens there, giving up the dominant position!

Gardens working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Glasschin has passed into half guard!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gardens looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Gardens is trying to control but can't.

Gardens actively working from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gardens trying to hold on to Glasschin's head to control him but Glasschin postures up.
Gardens gets back to full guard.

Gardens working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Glasschin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Glasschin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Glasschin trying to control the position from guard on top but Gardens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gardens is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Gardens dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Glasschin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gardens swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gardens fails with the takedown.

Gardens shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Gardens has hold of Glasschin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Glasschin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Gardens wants to take Glasschin's back here but Glasschin is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Glasschin tries to lock up and control but Gardens gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Glasschin has given up his back. Will we see Gardens going for some submissions?

Gardens is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Glasschin with him. Glasschin is trying to defend but Gardens has an arm under the chin now! Glasschin grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Marcus Gardens!
