Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tommie Karlsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paro Karysian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tommie Karlsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paro Karysian!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Karlsson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Karysian drives through with a takedown into guard.

Karlsson keeping busy on the bottom but Karysian has passed one foot through into half guard.
Karysian wants to stand but Karlsson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Karlsson is looking for a sweep. Karysian is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Karlsson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Karlsson.

Karlsson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Karysian doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Karysian manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Karlsson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Karysian turns into him and now he's in Karlsson's guard.

Karysian stands up and waves to Karlsson to follow him.

Karysian gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Karlsson has his foot on Karysian's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Karysian works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Karlsson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Karlsson has hold of Karysian's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Karysian manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Karlsson lands a heavy elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tommie Karlsson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Karlsson tries to score a body lock takedown but Karysian shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Karysian has picked Karlsson up - he's going for a ride! Karysian dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Karysian really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Karlsson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Karlsson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Karlsson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Karlsson tries for a takedown but Karysian sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Karlsson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Karysian can't keep his opponent in guard - Karlsson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Karysian kicks Karlsson off and gets back to his feet.
Karlsson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Karysian circles away.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Karysian just misses with a elbow thrown towards Karlsson's brow.

Karlsson drops back looking for a leg! Karysian is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Karysian manages to kick Karlsson off! Karlsson jumps back into Karysian's guard.

Karysian is working an open guard so Karlsson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Karysian is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Karlsson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ground and pound from Karlsson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Karysian can do anything to dispel that myth.

Karlsson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Karysian is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Karysian and Karlsson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Karlsson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
