The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Simmons, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kupag moves into the clinch.
Kupag's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Simmons tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Kupag counters with a shoot takedown. Simmons fights it but they end up in guard.
Simmons looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kupag is one step ahead there.

Kupag thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kupag gets to his feet - Simmons follows without any prompting.
Kupag rushes Simmons and presses him up against the cage.
Kupag has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Simmons is trying to keep an underhook but Kupag manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Simmons knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kupag on the ground.
