PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jun Kanjiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sea Bass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jun Kanjiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sea Bass!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bass lands a two punch combo.
Bass should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Bass shoots in but no luck this time.
Kanjiro misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Bass changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kanjiro looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kanjiro tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bass throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Kanjiro is looking to regain half guard here but Bass keeps moving and retains side control.
Bass grinds an elbow into Kanjiro's temple.
Kanjiro is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Bass is controlling him well.

Bass stands up.
Kanjiro tries to clinch there but Bass circles away.
Bass closes the distance and clinches up with Kanjiro, looking for a takedown. Bass pushes Kanjiro against the cage but Kanjiro circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bass throws a right and a left that Kanjiro avoids nicely.
Kanjiro tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bass swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bass shoots in for a takedown but Kanjiro shows good takedown defense.
Jun Kanjiro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sea Bass.
Bass looks gassed!
Kanjiro throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kanjiro throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Kanjiro instigates a clinch.
Kanjiro drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bass gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Bass tries to score a body lock takedown but Kanjiro shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Kanjiro crunches a lovely knee into Bass's ribcage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Bass is stalling here.

Bass turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bass manages to end up in side control.
A lull in the action here as Bass stalls from top position.
Kanjiro takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bass decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Bass looks to land a right hand but Kanjiro moved out of range.
Kanjiro tries to close the distance and clinch but Bass swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bass drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bass working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Bass has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bass prevents Kanjiro from escaping the position.
Kanjiro stops Bass from passing to mount.
Kanjiro taking punishment in the form of punches.
Kanjiro trying to remain calm as Bass controls from the top position.
Kanjiro is trying to control Bass's posture but Bass avoids it.

Bass swings around for an armbar but Kanjiro sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bass's guard.
Bass trying to strike off his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bass is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Bass wants to stand and escape but Kanjiro is having none of it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kanjiro pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bass is keeping the position for now.

Bass pushes Kanjiro off and scrambles back to his feet.

Bass closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bass lands in his opponent's guard.
Bass throwing strikes from guard but Kanjiro blocks nicely.

Bass stands and steps away. Kanjiro gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Bass shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bass stays in close to Kanjiro's body and controls the position.
Kanjiro keeping full guard, as Bass tries to pass.

Bass stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Bass looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Kanjiro!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kanjiro is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Kanjiro is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Kanjiro manages to regain half guard. Good work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kanjiro wants to control but Bass is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Sea Bass dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kanjiro shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Bass counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bass.
Kanjiro lands a nice elbow.


It looks like Sea Bass has been cut.
Bass has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kanjiro avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Kanjiro gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bass regains guard.

Bass manages to escape and get back to his feet.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kanjiro.
Nice takedown defense from Bass. No joy for Kanjiro on that attempt.
Kanjiro misses with a two punch combination.
Bass misses with a takedown attempt - Kanjiro sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kanjiro tries to clinch there but Bass circles away.
Kanjiro lands a slapping body shot.
Kanjiro throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Bass's head.
Kanjiro lands a front kick.

Bass scores a takedown into full mount!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bass looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bass is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Bass!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Sea Bass!
