Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tim Duggan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thabiso Rowan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tim Duggan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thabiso Rowan!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Emerson Jorge and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Rowan misses.
Duggan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rowan swivels and escapes.

Duggan is looking to clinch but Rowan is avoiding it.
Duggan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Rowan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Duggan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rowan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Duggan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Duggan moves in looking to clinch but Rowan pushes him off.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Duggan tries for a takedown but Rowan circles away easily

and Rowan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Duggan's guard.

Duggan wants to improve his position but Rowan is controlling well.

Rowan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Rowan is taking a breather. Duggan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Rowan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Duggan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Rowan is keen to just control but Duggan is a slippery customer.
Rowan tries to pass the half guard into mount. Duggan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Rowan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Duggan doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Rowan counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Duggan!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rowan lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Duggan wants to control but Rowan is having none of it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The referee warns Duggan that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Rowan wants to control the pace but Duggan is squirming around nicely.

Duggan is rocked!
Duggan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Rowan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Oh Duggan is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rowan pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Rowan jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Duggan manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Rowan lands a nice forearm strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thabiso Rowan dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Rowan cracks Duggan with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Rowan is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Rowan lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rowan works his way into side control.

Rowan scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Duggan to see if he's OK.
Duggan is trying to escape the position but Rowan is controlling the position.
Duggan is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Rowan drops an elbow to the side of Duggan's head.
Rowan winds up and cracks Duggan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rowan connects with a nice short shot to Duggan's temple.

Rowan is thwarting Duggan's attempts to control the position.
Duggan is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rowan scores with a couple of nice shots.
Rowan seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Rowan uses his free foot to push down on Duggan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Duggan.
Duggan seems to have got his legs back now.
Rowan lands a nice shot to the head.

Rowan is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Rowan has control of Duggan's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Duggan regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Duggan's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Duggan is trying to escape the mount.
Rowan breaks from Duggan's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Duggan is looking to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rowan cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Duggan really wants to buck Rowan off and get back to his feet.
Duggan is in all sorts of trouble here.
Rowan looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Duggan covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
