Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Kositzky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Greg Flang!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Flang as Kositzky shoots in.
Flang defending well as Kositzky loads up on a big left hand.
Flang shoots and misses

and Kositzky counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Kositzky seems content to control.
Flang is trying to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Flang keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Kositzky wants to stand but Flang has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

We're going to have a standup here because Paul Kositzky wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Flang just misses with a punch to the body.
Kositzky stuffs the takedown attempt from Flang. Flang gets slowly back to his feet.
Flang fails with an attempt to clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Flang is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kositzky is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Flang to the mat. Flang regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Flang is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Flang is trying to keep Kositzky in close.

Kositzky is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Flang wants to sweep but no luck.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Flang looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kositzky puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Flang controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Kositzky wants to stand up but Flang has a hold of him and won't allow it.

A looping hook to the body misses from Kositzky. Flang does a little dance to reset his feet.

Kositzky bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Flang tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Flang is trying to control Kositzky's posture but Kositzky avoids it.

Kositzky wants to stand but Flang is controlling his arm.
Kositzky in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Flang regains half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Flang is trying to maintain the position but Kositzky is very close to passing his half guard.
Flang is looking to improve his position.
Kositzky controlling the action here.

Flang is trying to get back to full guard.
Flang has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kositzky is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Flang misses with a takedown attempt

and Kositzky decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Flang's guard.
Flang is breathing heavily.
Kositzky is looking to stand up but Flang won't let him.
Flang looking to control but Kositzky passes into half guard.
Kositzky sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Flang shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Flang trying to control from half guard but Kositzky is working away.
Kositzky is looking for a sweep. Flang is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kositzky gets back to full guard.
Flang trying to control but Kositzky is working from the bottom.

Kositzky is looking for a triangle here but Flang uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kositzky is looking to reverse the position.
Flang takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Flang looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Flang trying to control the action but Kositzky is working from the bottom.
Kositzky prevents Flang from improving position.
Kositzky wants to control but Flang postures up.
Flang wants to take a breather but Kositzky manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Flang.

Kositzky looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Flang passes into half guard.
Greg Flang has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kositzky wants to control but Flang is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Flang is trying to control the action in half guard but Kositzky is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Flang is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kositzky sees it coming and defends easily.
Kositzky wants to get back to his feet.
Kositzky is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Flang seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Flang throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Kositzky gets back to full guard.
Kositzky is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kositzky prevents Flang from improving his position.
Flang trying to control here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kositzky looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Paul Kositzky is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Paul Kositzky overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Flang trying to get back to full guard but Kositzky takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Greg Flang comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kositzky has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
