Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rusty Griswold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximus Meridius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Griswold might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hooking Up The Lights. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griswold misses with a double jab
enabling Meridius to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Rusty Griswold has been cut.
Griswold throws the left hand but Meridius avoids the punch easily.
Griswold loads up on a big right hand but Meridius slips the punch.
Rusty Griswold seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Griswold bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Meridius's head backwards.

Meridius throws a right hand that Griswold ducks under and follows up with a left that Griswold also avoids with ease.
Griswold sizes up Meridius with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Griswold fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Meridius looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Griswold swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Griswold takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Meridius has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Meridius there as he acknowledges the shot.

and Griswold counters with a left to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Meridius counters with a stiff right hand.

Griswold misses with a wild body shot.
Griswold comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Griswold lands with a shot to the body.
Meridius scores with a kick to the body.
Griswold ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Meridius moves away.

Griswold feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Meridiuss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Griswold counters with a straight right hand.
Meridius throws a sloppy head kick
and Griswold counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Meridius manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Griswold manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Griswold looking to hit a scissor sweep but Meridius is one step ahead there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Griswold is on top in guard.

Griswold is working Meridius over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Griswold working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Meridius utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Meridius looking for a sweep. Not yet Meridius, not yet.
Griswold got a little sloppy there for a moment and Meridius has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Griswold has managed to get both his arms back between Meridius's legs - danger averted.
Meridius looks gassed!
Griswold postures up in Meridius's guard and throws a big left but Meridius blocks it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Griswold is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Griswold with a flurry of punches that miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rusty Griswold dominated that round.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Meridius misses with a low kick.

Griswold ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Meridius moves away.
Meridius throws a lazy uppercut
and Griswold decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Meridius's guard.
Meridius is trying to control the position but Griswold postures up.
Meridius wants to stand but Griswold is controlling the position.
Griswold wants to control from the top but Meridius keeps moving.
Griswold working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Meridius's head.
Griswold stands up over Meridius, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Meridius controls Griswold momentarily but Griswold frees himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Griswold accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Meridius will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Griswold moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Meridius is rocked!

Griswold throws an overhand right that lands on Meridius's shoulder, as Meridius tries to avoid the shot.

Griswold throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Meridius gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

and Griswold counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Meridius! He's just covering up as Griswold starts to tee off till referee steps in and stops the fight!
