Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Coogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keith Light (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rob Coogan!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Keith Light!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Light pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Coogan misses with a takedown

and Light counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Coogan's guard now.
Light is fighting to break Coogan's control of his arms but Coogan is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Coogan keeping full guard, as Light tries to pass.
Coogan pulls Light in close to prevent any damage.
Coogan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Light not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Coogan throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Light drives through with a takedown into guard.
Coogan wants to sweep here but Light controlling him for the moment.
Coogan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Coogan is pulling down on Light's head to control his posture.

Light is looking to stand up but Coogan won't let him.
Light trying to control the position from guard on top but Coogan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rob Coogan.
Coogan closes the distance but Light moves to the side

so Light counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Coogan is trying to hold Light in close to prevent damage but Light has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Coogan is trying to get back to full guard.

Coogan manages to get to full guard.
Coogan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Light trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Coogan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Light's guard.
Coogan tries to free his leg and advance position but Light is retaining full guard.
Coogan trying to control the position from guard on top but Light is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Coogan passes Light's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Coogan is keen to just control but Light is a slippery customer.

Coogan is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Light has managed to free his arm - good work.
Coogan trying to control from half guard but Light is working away.
Coogan trying to pass the guard but Light defending well.
Light really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coogan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Coogan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Light is just riding it out for now. Coogan eventually gives up the hold.
Light is looking for a sweep. Coogan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keith Light dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Coogan stuffs the takedown.

Light misses with a takedown attempt

and Coogan counters by moving into the clinch.
Light changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Coogan fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Rob Coogan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keith Light.

Light closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Coogan did well to prevent Light getting side control.
Coogan manages to get to full guard.

Coogan is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Light won't allow Coogan to sweep him here.
Light is looking to stand up but Coogan won't let him.
Coogan looking to control.
Light is breathing heavily.
Coogan manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Coogan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Light can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Light is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Coogan avoids the attempt from Light to control.
Coogan trying to control but Light is having none of it.
Coogan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Coogan wants to control the pace but Light is squirming around nicely.

Coogan wants to finish this one by submission but Light is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Coogan.

Coogan tries to control but Light wriggling away.
Light is working to get back to half guard.

Coogan quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Coogan but it's paid off an Light is forced to tap! Nice work by Coogan.
