Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Javier Ramirez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Saul Rubenstein! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rubenstein throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ramirez sees it coming and avoids it easily. Ramirez pushes Rubenstein away with a front kick. Ramirez is looking to slow Rubenstein down with leg kicks. Rubenstein checks a leg kick. Ramirez throws a low kick but Rubenstein avoids it. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Rubenstein checks a leg kick. Ramirez is looking to chop away at Rubenstein's legs. Rubenstein checks the leg kick nicely there.
Ramirez lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Ramirez swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Ramirez throws a low kick but Rubenstein moves out of range easily. Rubenstein shoots for a double leg takedown but Ramirez sprawls well. He's pushed Rubenstein's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ramirez throws a chopping leg kick but Rubenstein manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Ramirez tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Rubenstein is able to avoid easily. Ramirez wants to slow Rubenstein down by chopping away at his legs. Javier Ramirez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The fighters circle momentarily. Ramirez darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Rubenstein shoots in looking for a takedown but Ramirez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rubenstein's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Rubenstein ducks under a wild hook from Ramirez. Ramirez throws a leg kick that misses. Some bone on bone action there as Rubenstein checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Ramirez is looking to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Rubenstein uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ramirez. Ramirez motions for Rubenstein to come forward. Ramirez throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Ramirez misses with a leg kick. Ramirez connects with a solid leg kick. Ramirez throws a leg kick but Rubenstein sees it coming and checks it nicely. Ramirez tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Rubenstein is able to avoid easily. Ramirez throws a leg kick but Rubenstein moved away. Ramirez throws a low kick but Rubenstein avoids it. Ramirez throws a front kick aimed at Rubenstein's knee but Rubenstein avoids it well. Ramirez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rubenstein. Ramirez tries to land a leg kick but Rubenstein saw it coming and moves away.

Rubenstein closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ramirez to the mat! Ramirez manages to get full guard. Rubenstein won't allow Ramirez to get back to his feet. Ramirez is breathing heavily. Rubenstein is looking to stand up but Ramirez won't let him. Rubenstein postures up in Ramirez's guard and throws a big left but Ramirez blocks it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Rubenstein trying to control the position from guard on top but Ramirez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rubenstein might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ramirez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Javier Ramirez dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Ramirez shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Horrible takedown by Rubenstein or perhaps it was just good defense by Ramirez which made him look bad. Rubenstein tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ramirez swivels and escapes. A leg kick checked by Rubenstein. Ramirez throws a leg kick but Rubenstein moved away. Ramirez lands with a thumping leg kick.
A clash of legs there as Rubenstein blocks the low kick. Ramirez tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Rubenstein is able to avoid easily. Ramirez throws a leg kick but Rubenstein moved away. Ramirez wants to land a leg kick but Rubenstein is out of range.

Rubenstein looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ramirez is fending him off so far but Rubenstein persists. Nope, Ramirez circles away and we're back to standing. Javier Ramirez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Saul Rubenstein. Rubenstein avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Rubenstein checks a leg kick. Ramirez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rubenstein. Ramirez fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Ramirez throws a low kick but Rubenstein moves out of range easily. Ramirez tries a low kick but Rubenstein avoids it. Ramirez lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rubenstein looks to land a right hand but Ramirez moved out of range. Rubenstein drives through with a takedown into guard. Rubenstein missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Rubenstein trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Rubensteinis looking to pass into half guard but Ramirez pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Ramirez is in guard. Ramirez is looking to advance position but Rubenstein has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Rubenstein. Rubenstein is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ramirez has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Rubenstein has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Rubenstein breaks from Ramirez's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rubenstein lands with some strikes. Ramirez avoids a series of strikes thrown by Rubenstein.
Ramirez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Javier Ramirez dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Rubenstein closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Rubenstein scores with a couple of short elbows. Rubenstein trying to control the position but Ramirez is working away. Rubenstein looking to control but instead Ramirez has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Rubenstein trying to control from half guard but Ramirez is working away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ramirez wants to control but Rubenstein is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rubenstein decides to stand up. Ramirez throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Rubenstein checks a leg kick. Ramirez walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Rubenstein checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Rubenstein tries to clinch but Ramirez is having none of it. Good work by Rubenstein as he checks the leg kick. Ramirez fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rubenstein has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Rubenstein shoots in but no luck this time. Javier Ramirez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rubenstein fails with a takedown attempt. Javier Ramirez is winning the standup battle so far. A slapping leg kick lands for Ramirez.
Saul Rubenstein has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rubenstein takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. A leg kick checked by Rubenstein. Ramirez will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
A big left from Rubenstein misses. Ramirez lands a body shot.
Rubenstein takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ramirez feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Rubenstein's calf.
And that's the end of the fight! Javier Ramirez showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ramirez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
