Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joel Caputo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Joel Caputo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nate Wright! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Alyssa Summers and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wright tries for a takedown but Caputo circles away easily and Caputo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Wright throws a push kick but Caputo slaps the foot to one side. Wright is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Caputo scores with a takedown into Wright's guard. Caputo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Wright is looking to regain half guard here but Caputo keeps moving and retains side control. Wright regains half guard. Caputo tries to pass to full mount but Wright defends it. Wright is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Caputo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Caputo's back! Wright throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. Caputo tries to roll but Wright sticks to his back.

Wright escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Caputo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Caputo is looking to advance position but Wright has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Caputo is working to get back to half guard.
Wright has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Caputo manages to regain half guard. Good work. Wright is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Caputo moves into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Caputo is looking for a sweep. Wright is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Caputo is pressing down on Wright's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Wright drops back looking for a leg! Caputo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Caputo manages to kick Wright off! Wright jumps back into Caputo's guard. Wright wants to control from the top but Caputo keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Caputo is on top in guard.
Caputo has gone for a leg lock! Wright slips out almost immediately though and dives into Caputo's guard. Wright is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Caputo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Caputo has escaped and now he's on top! Caputo trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Wright manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wright pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Caputo is keeping the position for now. Wright drops back looking for a leg! Caputo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Caputo manages to kick Wright off! Wright jumps back into Caputo's guard. Wright drops back looking for a leg! That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Caputo tries to get to full guard but Wright has control of the leg. Caputo is working hard here to advance position. Wright is looking to advance position but Caputo won't allow it. Wright looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wright is looking for a kimura here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Nate Wright will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Caputo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Wright has his takedown stuffed and Caputo counters with a lovely shot to the body. Wright with a lazy takedown attempt and Caputo counters with a takedown into side control. Wright tries to bench press Caputo off him but Caputo keeps the position. You can see the frustration on Wright's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Caputo tries to advance to mount but can't. Caputo is trying to get an arm triangle but Wright is defending well. Wright is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Caputo off and has taken his back! Caputo tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Wright punishing his opponent with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caputo is desperately trying to improve his position but Wright has a good base and remains in mount. Wright trying to control but Caputo is having none of it. Wright is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Caputo is surviving well by controlling Wright's body position as best he can. Poor strikes thrown by Wright there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Caputo stops Wright from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Wright throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Caputo has his hands clasped together but Wright breaks the hold and Caputo is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Wright!
