Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Spear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Party in the USA kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Spear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Smith!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith with a poor takedown

and Spear counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Smith's guard now.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Spear stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Spear closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spear. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Spear wants to free his trapped foot but Smith is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Spear is controlling the pace.
Smith wants to get back to full guard.
Smith misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Spear looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Smith with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Spear blocks the strikes from Smith.
Spear has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Spear gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Joe Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith with a lazy takedown attempt
and Spear counters with a nice body kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Spear drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Smith throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Smith looks gassed!
Spear sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Smith's guard.

Spear seems to be looking for submissions.
Spear frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith throwing hammer fists to the chest of Spear. What's that going to do exactly?
Smith is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Spear controlling the pace for now.
Spear in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Spear gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Smith throws a series of punches but Spear moves out of range.

Spear shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Spear showed some decent athleticism there.
Spear moves into full mount! Smith won't be happy about that!

Smith is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Spear locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Smith is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ryan Spear!
