PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Milton Howzer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nacho Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Milton Howzer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nacho Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Howzer gets the takedown into side control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Diaz gets back to half guard.
Howzer uses his free foot to push down on Diaz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Diaz.
Diaz regains half guard.

Howzer decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Howzer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Diaz sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Diaz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Howzer.
Diaz moves away from the strike by Howzer.
Howzer misses with an uppercut. Diaz saw that one coming.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Diaz takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Howzer sizes up Diaz with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Diaz stalks Howzer and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Howzer's face. Howzer staggers backwards, shaken.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Diaz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Howzer on the side of the head.
Howzer doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Diaz on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Howzer drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Howzer sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Howzer gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Howzer is breathing heavily.
Diaz throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Howzer has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Diaz blocks a jab.
Diaz lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Howzer throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A punch combination from Diaz misses.
Howzer misses with a hook. Diaz ducked under it nicely.
Diaz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Diaz looks to land a combination but Howzer avoids it well.
Diaz throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Howzer throws a jab when Diaz was well out of range.
Howzer sizes up Diaz with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Diaz throws a nice looking combination but Howzer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Diaz throws a jab but it's blocked by Howzer.

Howzer drives through with a takedown into guard.
Howzer advances to half guard.
Diaz is trying to stand.
Howzer working Diaz over with strikes.

Howzer stands up and beckons Diaz to join him on the feet.
Diaz closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Diaz scores with a nice right hand.


Howzer is rocked!
Diaz moves away from the strike by Howzer.
Diaz misses with a double jab.
Diaz slow jab from Howzer misses its intended target.
Diaz throws a right hand that Howzer ducks under and follows up with a left that Howzer also avoids with ease.

Howzer looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Howzer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Howzer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Diaz, up you get!
Diaz steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Howzer.
Howzer is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A big left from Howzer misses.
Diaz dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Howzer thuds his right hand into Diaz's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Howzer uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Howzer scores with a nice strike.
Howzer throws a big shot that misses.

Diaz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Howzer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Diaz wants to sweep here but Howzer controlling him for the moment.
Diaz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Howzer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Howzer is trying to stand.

Howzer actively working from the bottom here.
Howzer gets back to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Howzer is on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Howzer stands and steps away. Diaz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Howzer connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
A choreographed right hand from Howzer misses the target.

Howzer gets a takedown into half guard.
Howzer moves nicely into side control.

Howzer stands up and beckons Diaz to his feet.
Oooh a lovely combination from Diaz sends Howzer down but not out. Diaz dives into side control looking to finish.
Oh Howzer is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!


It looks like Milton Howzer has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Howzer is trying to buck Diaz off.
Howzer seems to have got his legs back now.

Diaz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Howzer tries to buck Diaz off but Diaz is having none of it.
Diaz wants to stand but Howzer has his arm trapped.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Diaz in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Howzer is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Nacho Diaz!
