The bell rings for round one and we are underway! angel wants to clinch up but DiGriz keeps it at a distance. angelique angel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. angel tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. DiGriz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
DiGriz swings and misses with a hook to the body.
angel shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. angel fails miserably with a takedown attempt. angel tries to clinch there but DiGriz circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. angel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but DiGriz avoids it really well and circles away. James DiGriz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of angelique angel. No luck for angel with that takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. A nice inside leg kick there by angel. That's going to slow DiGriz down. DiGriz moves out of range of the body kick. angel fails with a takedown attempt. angel throws a right and a left that both miss. DiGriz leaves angel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. angel swinging wildly here.
angel shoots for a double leg takedown but DiGriz sprawls well. He's pushed angel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. angel fails with a takedown attempt from distance. angel looks gassed! angel misses with an attempted mid kick.
angel tries to clinch up but DiGriz circles away and keeps his distance. angel fails with a takedown attempt. DiGriz slaps away a takedown attempt from angel, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. DiGriz moves into the clinch. angel has DiGriz pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. DiGriz manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. DiGriz decides to pull guard. DiGriz pushes a forearm under angel's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, angel is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
