The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pufik circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pufik throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hughes.
Pufik moves into the clinch successfully.
Pufik escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Matt Hughes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pufik throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Pufik counters with a nice leg kick.
Hughes has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hughes there as he acknowledges the shot.

and Pufik cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Pufik counters with a flying knee. Nice.

and Pufik counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pufik.
Kolya Pufik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Hughes.
Hughes is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pufik pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Hughes jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pufik walks away with a smile on his face. Hughes gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Pufik counters with a big head kick but Hughes shrugs it off.
Pufik goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Pufik tests Hughes's chin there with a solid looking shot.

and Hughes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Pufik forces Hughes back against the cage and clinches.
Pufik manages to break the clinch.

and Pufik holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Pufik breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Pufik holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Hughes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Pufik prevents it.

Pufik thuds his shin into the meat of Hughes's side.
Hughes takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Hughes fails with the takedown.

Pufik throws a series of strikes that have Hughes backpedaling.
Pufik lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Pufik.

and Pufik counters with a head kick.

Pufik throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hughes.

and Pufik counters with a flying knee. Nice.

and Pufik counters with a flying knee that drops Hughes! Pufik dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!
