Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gerald Luker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Encarnacao! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Luker throws a nice looking combination but Encarnacao bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Gerald Luker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Luker tries to clinch up. Encarnacao shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Luker pinned against the cage. Luker gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Luker drives through with a takedown into guard. Encarnacao keeping moving, preventing Luker from controlling successfully. Encarnacao pulls Luker in close to prevent any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Luker seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Encarnacao is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Luker is aware though and is defending well. Encarnacao preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Luker throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Encarnacao works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Luker drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Encarnacao dives on top into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Luker looking for a sweep. Not yet Luker, not yet. Encarnacao is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Luker wants to stand but Encarnacao is controlling the position. Luker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Encarnacao is one step ahead there. Luker controls Encarnacao momentarily but Encarnacao frees himself. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Encarnacao trying to control but Luker is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Luker tries to clinch but Encarnacao is having none of it. Encarnacao tries for a takedown but Luker circles away easily and Luker counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Encarnacao is trying to get back to full guard. Luker is keen to just control but Encarnacao is a slippery customer. Luker trying to mount his opponent but Encarnacao defends it. Luker wants to control but Encarnacao is keeping him busy. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Encarnacao wants to improve his position but Luker is controlling well.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Gerald Luker just wasn't active enough. Luker is looking to clinch but Encarnacao is avoiding it.
Encarnacao keeps the fight on the outside. Luker fails with the takedown and Encarnacao counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Luker wants to stand but Encarnacao is controlling the position. Luker pushes Encarnacao off and gets back to his feet.
Encarnacao doesn't succeed with the takedown and Luker counters with a takedown into side control. Gerald Luker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Encarnacao. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Luker looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Encarnacao is avoiding damage well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Encarnacao sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Luker throws a strike but Encarnacao avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Luker throwing strikes from guard but Encarnacao blocks nicely. Luker thows a big elbow that misses. Encarnacao is trying to keep Luker in close.
Luker missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Encarnacao throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Gerald Luker dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Encarnacao with a poor takedown and Luker counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Encarnacao's guard now. Luker stands up over Encarnacao, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Luker trying to control but Encarnacao is working from the bottom. Encarnacao avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Encarnacao looking to hit a scissor sweep but Luker is one step ahead there. Luker trying to control the position from guard on top but Encarnacao is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Encarnacao wants to sweep here but Luker controlling him for the moment. Gerald Luker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gerald Luker has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Encarnacao misses with a takedown attempt and Luker counters with a solid body kick. Luker darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Encarnacao is breathing heavily. Luker trying to control from half guard but Encarnacao is working away. Encarnacao tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Luker not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Encarnacao blocking the ground and pound attempt from Luker. Encarnacao on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Luker scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Luker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Luker wants to stand up but Encarnacao has a hold of him and won't allow it. Encarnacao is looking to control Luker's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Encarnacao avoid being mounted? Luker throwing shots but Encarnacao is blocking nicely. Encarnacao is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Luker thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Encarnacao gets back to full guard.
Luker controlling from the top position. Encarnacao is looking for a triangle but Luker pushes his legs off easily.
Luker trying to control but Encarnacao is working from the bottom. Luker is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Encarnacao has momentary wrist control but Luker slips an elbow through the middle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Encarnacao had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Luker defends it easily. Luker trying to control the position from guard on top but Encarnacao is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Encarnacao tries to land a sweep but no joy. Encarnacao looking to control.

Encarnacao shoots and misses and Luker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Encarnacao's guard. Luker's corner is telling him to maintain position. Encarnacao has his foot on Luker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Luker works his way back into a safe position though. Encarnacao is controlling Luker's posture. Luker lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Luker is in close to Encarnacao's body, working some short punches and elbows. Encarnacao not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Encarnacao gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Gerald Luker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Luker wants to clinch up but Encarnacao keeps it at a distance. Luker tries to clinch but Encarnacao is having none of it. Luker feints and as Encarnacao raises his hands in defense, Luker changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Luker postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Luker throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Encarnacao works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Encarnacao avoids the attempt from Luker to control. Jack Encarnacao has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Encarnacao with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that's the end of the fight! Gerald Luker showed his dominance in that final round. Well Luker has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
