PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kruci Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dagger Gold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kruci Burns looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kruci Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dagger Gold!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gold shoots in and drives through. Burns sprawls well.
Gold should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Gold has Burns up against the ropes in a clinch.

Gold breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Burns tries to bum rush Gold with a series of wild strikes but Gold uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Burns closes the distance but Gold moves to the side

and Gold moves into the clinch.
Gold blocks a body shot from Burns.
Gold is pushing Burns up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Burns tries to stall but Gold uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Burns tries to break free but Gold pushes him back against the ropes.
Burns fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Gold breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Burns goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Gold's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Burns gets control of Gold's arms and successfully pulls guard. Burns will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Burns stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Burns wants it to stay on the feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gold lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Burns backwards.
Burns tries a body shot but Gold blocks it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gold shoots in for a takedown but Burns shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Gold changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Burns fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Burns jumps guard but Gold stands there with Burns around his waist. Burns gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Gold throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Gold fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Burns, pushing him back against the ropes.
Burns has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gold avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Gold jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Burns walks away with a smile on his face. Gold gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Gold scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Gold misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kruci Burns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gold has taken the fight to the clinch.
Gold tries for a takedown but Burns manages to get underhooks.

Gold turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gold manages to end up in side control.
Gold wants to stand but Burns is controlling his arm.

Burns can't do much from the bottom here.
Burns is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gold is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Gold is looking to take a break and control but Burns is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gold might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Burns kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Gold is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gold wants to stand but Burns has his arm trapped.
Gold looking to control but instead Burns has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Gold wants to lay and pray for a moment but Burns keeps working.

Dagger Gold has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Gold takes the fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dagger Gold showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Gold ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gold no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Gold has his foot on Burns's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burns works his way back into a safe position though.
Gold really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burns. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Burns drops back looking for a leg! Gold is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gold manages to kick Burns off! Burns jumps back into Gold's guard.

Burns postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Burns trying to control the position from guard on top but Gold is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Burns is in close to Gold's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Burns drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burns jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Burns drops an elbow to the side of Gold's head.

Burns sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Gold defending well though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gold can do anything to dispel that myth.
Burns thows a huge punch but Gold dodges it nicely.
Burns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Burns is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gold has managed to free his arm - good work.
Gold tries to get to full guard but Burns has control of the leg.
Gold is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Burns is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Burns wants to work for an arm triangle but Gold is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kruci Burns has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Dagger Gold is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
