Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jarvis Calhoun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryu Nakamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryu Nakamura will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakamura missing with a left hand there. Calhoun was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Nakamura goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Calhoun tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nakamura was well out of range. Poor timing from Calhoun.

Calhoun thows a body shot but no joy.

and Nakamura counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Calhoun counters with a shoot takedown. Nakamura fights it but they end up in guard.
Calhoun is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Calhoun sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Nakamura's guard.
Nakamura is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jarvis Calhoun overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Calhoun is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jarvis Calhoun.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jarvis Calhoun will probably get the nod.

No joy there for Nakamura, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nakamura takes a swing at Calhoun's ribcage but misses.
Calhoun walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Nakamura checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Calhoun shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nakamura manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Nakamura has momentary wrist control but Calhoun slips an elbow through the middle.
Calhoun postures up in Nakamura's guard and throws a big left but Nakamura blocks it.

Calhoun lands a nice forearm strike.
Calhoun misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Nakamura is trying to work for a sweep but Calhoun has mounted him!
Nakamura takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Nakamura tries to lock up and control but Calhoun gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Calhoun's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Calhoun has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Calhoun, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
