Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jonny Potkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Asher Lee! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee avoids a punch combination nicely.
Potkins shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lee as he jumps to the side. Lee throws a sloppy head kick and Potkins moves out of range easily. Lee clinches up against the cage. Lee avoiding damage as Potkins throws knees to the body.
A bit of stalling here from Lee.
Lee lands an elbow that stopped Potkins in his tracks for a moment. Lee avoiding damage.
Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Potkins moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Potkins fails with an attempt to clinch.
Potkins has a takedown stuffed. Potkins shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonny Potkins. That's going to take a lot out of him. Potkins shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Lee tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Potkins makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Potkins tries to clinch and Lee moves into the clinch. Lee content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Lee lands an elbow that stopped Potkins in his tracks for a moment. Lee gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Lee with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Potkins letting Lee take a breather here. Potkins pulls guard. Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Potkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Potkins pulls Lee in to control the position. Potkins keeping moving, preventing Lee from controlling successfully. Potkins is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee trying to control but Potkins is working from the bottom. Lee looks gassed! Potkins on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Potkins tries to get out of the position. Potkins manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lee manages to get himself to full guard.
Potkins stands up from Lee's guard - Potkins perhaps looking for a knockout. Asher Lee is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Potkins just misses with a punch to the body.
Potkins is looking to clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Potkins tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lee swats him away and circles back towards the center. Lee pushes Potkins up against the cage in a clinch. Lee misses with an elbow over the top. Lee lands a damaging elbow. Potkins wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Potkins takes an elbow to the forehead. Potkins wants to break the clinch but can't.

Potkins misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Lee lands a damaging elbow. Lee gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Lee comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Potkins jumps guard but Lee stands there with Potkins around his waist. Potkins gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Lee lands an elbow inside that Potkins shrugs off. Lee breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Potkins takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Potkins throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Potkins shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense. Potkins throws a right and a left that Lee avoids nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. No luck for Potkins with that takedown attempt. Potkins closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Lee stalling the fight.
Potkins wants a takedown.
Potkins keeps control of Lee as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Potkins wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Lee has Potkins pushed against the cage. Potkins tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lee smiles and moves away.
Lee moves into the clinch. A nice glancing elbow lands by Lee. Potkins blocks the elbow strike.
Potkins wants a takedown.
Potkins wants to get back to striking at distance but Lee won't allow it.
Potkins manages to pull guard.
Potkins tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Potkins controlling the position. Lee stopping the sweep attempt from Potkins. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Asher Lee will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
No luck for Potkins with that takedown attempt. Lee throws a head kick that Potkins semi-blocks.
Lee clinches but Potkins breaks the clinch and Potkins counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Potkins winds up and cracks Lee with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Lee is trying to control but Potkins passes into side control!
Lee is trying to escape the position but Potkins is controlling the position. Potkins's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Potkins cracks Lee with a big elbow. Lee is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potkins is working to tighten is grip on Lee's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Lee has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Potkins is really squeezing tight and eventually Lee passes out! Potkins breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
